and good beef stock. So, diced onions,flour, beef stock,a bay leaf, black pepper, toasted french bread,swiss or gruyere cheese,bowl of parmesan on the side, and you're away! But the key is that good beef stock, I reckon.Smile

I got the recipe form youtube.It turned out lovely.But i know for the next time,bit more garlic,brown the onions a little bit more.But actually i was very surprised at hoe it turned out.
I used a chicken stock cube.

Well done! i think you've identified the tweaks that will make it perfect for you, so atb for a winter of french onion soup. Nothing nicer on a cold winters night!

Even easier, put the sliced onions in a slow cooker for a few hours to really caramelise first. Half beef stock, half white wine.
