I'm 37 weeks and had my sweep today, this is what the notes say: soft, posterior, 2cm external , OS closed.
I was with two midwives and both were surprised my cervix was so soft this early and just told me to keep expressing, have a walk and have sex! They both were fairly positive but obviously nobody knows.
