My baby girl is 1 on the 1st of November I've introduced milk into her diet already with porridge and cereal and want to switch to cows milk instead of formula now, I need to know how much to give her?? as she still has 3 to 4 bottles a day at 8oz formula, my mums saying dont switch her yet as it will upset her stomach but I dont think a few weeks will hurt will it? Confused need help

I just switched one day and dd didn't notice the difference. Same oz, same times. Just carried on like normal!

Why would it upset her stomach?if you're worried it will try one feed of it see how she goes, otherwise as above x

I feel confident enough she will be fine just wanted your guys advice as I always go to my mum for advice it's hard when she goes against what I think 😔

If she's had cows milk with cereal she should be fine!

OkayGo · 08/10/2019 21:56

It'll be alright op. If she's already having cows milk in stuff like cereal she'll be fine.

Thank for your help guys I'm guna give her a 8oz bottle of cows milk warm in the morning see how she gets on my 4 year old wouldn't take to cows milk at all so had to keep him on formula 👌 let's hope she takes to it x has anyone ever warmed cows milk in a bottle warmer??

I didn't use a bottle warmer. I do 40 seconds in a microwave to take the edge off the cold.

june2007 · 08/10/2019 22:06

Yes have used a bottle warmer. But could if you can persuade them to have it cold. Best not to use a microwave as can leave hot spots. A jug of warm water is good too.

dementedpixie · 08/10/2019 22:06

I'd do it gradually rather than all in one go. P.s. from 1 year they only need around 350mls of milk

imogenbaby05 · 08/10/2019 22:16

What does your babies have to eat like there food and drink routine?? X

For both of mine I swapped out the formula for cows milk gradually over a few weeks. From about 11 months I swapped the lunch time bottle for a cup of cows milk. Then a few weeks later the morning one and then finally the bedtime one. Bedtime bottle I kept as a bottle for a couple of months but they were both fully on cups by 15m. Mine were both really good eaters so no concerns about them getting enough nutrients/calories etc

Mealtimes by 1 were approximately
7am bottle/ cup of milk
8am breakfast
10.30 snack
12.30 lunch plus bottle after
3.30 snack
5.30 dinner
7 bottle

I don't understand your mums arguement. Is she saying that a months time your DC's stomach is going to miraculous change and accept cow's milk? Confused

You have done the better thing by gradually introducing it. Go with your gut not your mums advice.

TheSunAlsoRises · 09/10/2019 06:37

I changed an oz at a time as I did find it upset my babies stomach a bit, but she was fine with a slow transition.

I gave the same amount of Oz and warmed it in the microwave and then shook it to prevent hotspots.
