Apple Watch and headphones

First of all I will start by saying I didn’t really do any research before I bought my watch, wanted to update my Fitbit, dithered for a while and just bought it.
It doesn’t have a headphone port which I knew and I already had some bose Bluetooth headphones which sync to my phone so thought it would be perfect to sync to my watch and i could go running without having to take my phone with me - the main reason for this was that I never have anywhere to keep my phone on me, I run in a vest and running tights/leggings without pockets and don’t want to be weighed down with stuff.
Does it not work because of the WiFi situation?
My Spotify app is on my watch and I have downloaded my playlist that I want so it should in theory be ‘there’ as I can see it on my watch screen.
Any helpful hints?
I just want to be able to run without carrying stuff with me (because I have nowhere to put it!) - failing that, any suggestions for lightweight running clothes with Zip pockets? I could obviously google these myself but I’d really prefer a solution to the watch/headphones problem!
Ps, I hate those waistbands and armbands for phones so they’re not an option.
Thanks in advance for any help that comes my way Grin

Have you been able to 'pair' the headphones with the watch at all?

I need to carry my phone as my Fitbit doesn't have GPS. I've got one of these bumbags for when I run in leggings with no pockets. Mine is from Decathlon but it looks like this and my phone (iPhone 7 in a LifeProof case) fits in it no problem. It's not bulky at all and fits under my running top.

Sorry just read that you didn't want a waistband bag. Hope you work something out.

You will be able to pair your bluetooth headphone with the watch.

However - if you have the wifi only watch, then the only way to listen to stored music when out running (and with no data connectivity) is through playlists that you have downloaded to the Apple Music app. Sadly Spotify playlists don't work.

If you Google, you will find hundreds of posts of people pissed off that Spotify streaming isn't allowed!

You need Apple Music. We’ve just moved from Spotify but it’s fine,it’s basically the same.

LookImAHooman · 08/10/2019 22:13

The Spotify app on Apple Watches is essentially a remote control for the Spotify app on a paired iPhone. You’d need a certain Samsung or Garmin model to use Spotify offline playlists with no phone. Highly frustrating.

The 3 series has 16GB of storage for your own music or downloaded through Apple Music, IIRC.

Oh how bloody annoying! But definitely my own fault for not looking into it before buying it. Have had it for a few months now and it’s fine but had hoped to be able to use it for this as an added bonus.
Yes the headphones have paired with the watch, I tested them out at home and I was able to listen to my music on them via the watch no problem. As soon as I stepped out my front door though they stopped working.
Damn, we have family Spotify so not changing, I’ll have to work out some kind of clothing overhaul. Even more annoying, hate carting extra stuff about!
