And if so, how much?

First time having a supermarket shop delivered. Am on a budget atm but don't want to be embarrassed/break some unwritten protocol.

thx in advance Flowers

Only for our Christmas shop, wouldn’t for any other time.

MustardScreams · 08/10/2019 10:10

Only for the Christmas shop. I put £10 in a card.

CottonSock · 08/10/2019 10:11

Never.

Sooverthemill · 08/10/2019 10:12

No. It's their job. I think they aren't supposed to accept

Winterfellismyhome · 08/10/2019 10:12

Nope

twilightcafe · 08/10/2019 10:16

No. I have only tipped once when it was a monster, late-night delivery at Christmas.
Otherwise, you don't have to tip.

blackcat86 · 08/10/2019 10:16

Never. Never even considered it and I should think they have rules about accepting gifts (most big companies do). They are always in a rush so we are rarely chatting much.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 08/10/2019 10:17

OK thanks Smile then I am okay and don't need to feel tight.
If I haven't ordered bags do they just dump it at the door. Do I need a box? yes I am aware I sound like a dum dum.

Thanks again x

I get bags ready next to the door and decant from the boxes into the bags.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 08/10/2019 10:19

Cheers x

My first attempts at tipping my deliveries resulted in outright refusal, and if I'm being honest, bafflement on their end. I'm American and just used to tipping for everything. Eventually figured it out.

Sooverthemill · 08/10/2019 16:11

Here they bring it into the kitchen and either help me unpack or wait for me to do so, they also let my dogs and coo over my kitten

Stravapalava · 08/10/2019 17:59

No I don't. I don't know if anyone does?

WeShouldOpenABar · 08/10/2019 18:02

Tesco anyway aren't allowed to accept tips. there are no bags on any deliveries in Ireland, driver sets the box in the kitchen for me and I unload onto the counter to put away when he's gone.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 08/10/2019 18:37

I know for a fact Asda drivers aren’t allowed to accept tips. They’re not allowed to accept anything at all actually. If you’d baked some cupcakes and offered them one they couldn’t accept.

It’s classed as gross misconduct and they could be fired.
