Apparently I'm a lush

According to this

I put my average weekly consumption in (3 or 4 330ml craft beers on a Friday and Saturday each) and no more than once a month do I drink more than 4 beers in one sitting. And apparently something like 87% of women drink less than me. Seriously? That's roughly 5 pints a week. I thought everyone was guzzling gin like no tomorrow these days? Actually I forgot to put in that I have the occasional midweek g&t. And I have been known to drink FOUR GLASSES of champagne on Christmas day. And maybe even a nip of whiskey very occasionally Shock

Surely this can't be right?!

waits for the purse lips abstemious lot to tell me my liver is a prune and I need to get to AA pronto

I am a lush then. Never realised before.

I like a couple of glasses of wine 3/4 nights of the week inc weekend. I don't get drunk (apart from some fridays and sometimes sunday afternoons - usually have 2 or 3 larger glasses at the pub on a sunday) One bottle lasts me 3 days if in the week.

I don't know anyone in rl who is as puritan about alcohol as some on MN.

QuimJongUn · 07/10/2019 19:15

So we're all in agreement that it's broken then? Excellent. I think I'll have a large g&t to celebrate.

For people so happy and 'in tune' about your alcohol intake, why the need to be so bloody rude about other people? Who cares what you drink? I certainly don't.

I'm sick and tired of stupid comments like 'puritan', 'lip-pursing'. Do what you want, nobody cares... leave other people alone, ffs. I would have back-spaced out of the thread without posting but for the insults.

Well that is complete crap! I got a binge drinking warning for saying I have 3 glasses of wine less than once a month Confused
In reality I drink Xmas and birthdays and that's it. No way am I a binge drinker as I never even get drunk.

Most of the school mums are downing a bottle a night, I'd say that's more of a problem!

QuimJongUn · 07/10/2019 19:24

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe I've been told I have an alcohol problem on other threads when I've mentioned how much I drink (ie, not much). So yes, there are plenty of lip-pursing puritans on MN who are very quick to judge others' lifestyles.

I'm not suggesting for a second you are, by the way. But then my use of those phrases wasn't directed at you in the first place, so there was no need to take such offence.

Well it’s just told me 35% drink less than I do, I have maybe 1 small (3/4oz) glass of wine every 6 weeks once a month max so I’m not sure how accurate it is.

Runningonempty84 · 07/10/2019 19:28

Apparently 35% drink less than I do, and I have one to two drinks a year (might have a sip of champagne at a wedding - that's it). The survey is bollocks.

MitziK · 07/10/2019 19:30

I'm confused. More than 30% of women drink less than one single drink a month, but if you don't drink at all, you're part of only 10% who don't?

There's some serious fiddling of figures going on there.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 07/10/2019 19:32

OP, with respect. You're an adult. Why are you courting opinions about how much or how little you drink when clearly, you have your own view that is fixed?

When you post a thread on a public chatboard then there's a good chance that people will read it. The thread is exactly the same as a brexit one, to berate 'the other side'. What's the point otherwise?

MN is comprised of a heap of judgemental people who live to judge other people... until that is, somebody judges them.

I'm not even doing that, I clicked on it read the responses and was irritated at yet another thread of people lashing out. I truly don't care what you drink or how you look. Not a whit.

LushyMcLushFace · 07/10/2019 19:32

In fact I've changed in honour of this thread (well hopefully I have!)

hairtoss · 07/10/2019 19:35

I wish I could drink that much.
I would get fat and have terrible skin/eyes (I used to drink as much as you) so I have to accept that drinking is only for special occasions Sad I would loveto be a lush and regularly get that warm fussy feeling though!

Pyjamaface · 07/10/2019 19:36

35% Drink less than I do, so I presume 35% of women are teetotal because I rarely drink, last drink was June and next will probably be Christmas.

SayNoToCarrots · 07/10/2019 19:37

Perhaps it's including children? And . . . Nuns?

QuimJongUn · 07/10/2019 19:39

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe except I wasn't courting opinions on how much I drink. I was stating that this survey/quiz seems to be a bit broken. And it looks like I'm right, given that there are people here who drink a glass of wine or two a year and are told they're drinking more than 35% of adults. So far every single one of us who's posted are drinking well within the safe guidelines, yet we're being told by this survey we're binge drinking and putting our health at risk. That was what I was 'courting opinions' on, not how much I drink.

If you don't care, don't comment Smile

@LushyMcLushFace excellent work!
