Baby clothes recommendations

I know there must be a hundred threads about this, but I still haven't found a great place to shop for DC. DC is 3,5 months old, quite sturdy, with a short torso and long legs. I was given a lot of Next stuff by a friend but it seems a disaster in terms of fit: the legs on the sleepsuits are really short, and the vests are always too long and by the time they fit right lengthwise, DC's already too chubby for them. So I'm basically looking for the exact opposite in terms of fit (woops Grin). I love colourful unisex-type clothing, and deep, warm colours seem to look best on DC. Does anyone want to share their favourite place to shop (especially for their long-legged short-torsoed babies)?

Watching with interest as I have a baby the same age and the same problem!

Vertbaudet.

I like M & S baby clothes as my daughter has long legs. But she didn't have a short torso!

Yeah, it's bizarre how disproportionate DC seems to be! We're on 3-6 months for trousers and sleepsuits, while some of the newborn vests would still fit if it were just a matter of length. But M&S is good for long legs then at least? I'll check out Vertbaudet too.

Frugi?
Boden?

Daffodil2018 · 07/10/2019 16:38

Petit Bateau seem good for long skinny legs I think.

MustardScreams · 07/10/2019 16:38

Zara Baby is excellent. Lovely clothes, unisex, and the wash and last brilliantly.

notmytea · 07/10/2019 16:40

M&S always comes up big. Boots is good for lovely deep colours. Mothercare is good quality but worth waiting for a sale

LailaDay · 07/10/2019 16:41

Frugi, Boden and Petit Bateau are really nice, but not something I can afford. Grin

I find Tesco sleep suits fit my son really well. Simular situation here as in he's still in 0-3 month vests but 3-6 bottoms too.

mynameiscalypso · 07/10/2019 16:43

DS is pretty average sized (he's 7 weeks) but I always find the legs on ASDA sleepsuits etc very long on him.

Eeeeek2 · 07/10/2019 16:45

How about separates, vest, leggings and cardie. That way you can pick and choose sizes to fit.

LailaDay · 07/10/2019 16:46

That sounds promising, @Bobthefishermanswife. @mynameiscalypso, I have a pack of ASDA sleepsuits as well, but am not finding the legs particularly long (or just not long enough for my DC!).

@Eeeeek2, that's what we've been doing now, and it works so far. I just really like dungarees and babygros, so would love to find some that fit right, if they're out there. :)

Maybe Sainsbury's? Don't think I ever tried their sleepsuits, but my daughter is a skinny long one and Sainsbury's are just too wide for her so they might be suitable for you.

FenellaMaxwell · 07/10/2019 16:54

John Lewis and M&S are both good for a long baby.

csam · 07/10/2019 17:06

I had a long legged baby! Footless baby grows with socks and sock-ons to keep them on. I used Tesco and also H&M have lovely soft comfy trousers too

Eeeeek2 · 07/10/2019 17:39

Footless babygrows/rompers

Dd I put in short dungarees with tights

thesongaboutsquares · 07/10/2019 17:46

I've just discovered Matalan... my baby is older but things like leggings are very long in the leg. Might be worth a go? Or if all else fails, I always found boots baby clothes to be fairly roomy.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 07/10/2019 17:57

I always loved Boots as the designs weren't too cutesy or gimmicky and the cotton was always really good quality, or H&M and John Lewis. DS had long legs from the off and they seemed to suit him. You might find Next is good though as whenever I put him in something from next the body was always way too short!
