Induction hob installation - various questions

Hi

I am trying to plan our new kitchen - very excited as the old one has been there for about 23 years and the room is looking really shabby.

We are thinking of getting an induction hob, and my Aunt was saying that the electrician who installs it should give us a certificate?

Is this true - the person who came to quote for the work didn’t mention it, but he employs an electrician to do that part of the work.

Would we also need a certificate for the extractor fan installation?

If the kitchen fitter says that the electrician won’t provide a certificate, should I get my own electrician in to do that part of the work?

Also, the kitchen fitter said it would be no problem to install the induction hob with its own breaker and wire to the fuse box, but has quoted only £150 for the electrical work - or £200 I can’t remember, and as far as I can tell connecting the hob to the fuse box is going to be quite a big job?

Additionally, when he came to the house he didn’t seem to understand about this (it is in a later message that he said it would be no problem) and said that the electrician would sort it. However I will be at work when they do the work, and am worried that somehow the hob won’t be connected properly.

Anyway, any advice would be really appreciated 😊.

I've had 3 induction hobs in the UK and Spain and never needed a certificate or separate braker. They are fabulous. Very quick and very clean. Just make sure you have the right pans.

Thanks @MrsT1405.

Were yours 13amp hobs that only needed to be plugged in? I gather I could buy one of those but they aren’t as powerful?

Yes I am really looking forward to how easy it will be to clean!

Just bumping in case anyone else has any experience of installing an induction hob?
