I have been to the doctor about this on numerous occasions but it has never been resolved, so I thought I'd ask here just in case anyone has had anything similar.
Since the birth of my first child 3 years ago (timing may or may not be relevant) I've had a problem with my nose. Every month to two months I get an extremely painful area on my right nostril, which after a few days turns to a Whitehead either inside it or on the bottom of my nose (lovely!). It was diagnosed once as a staph infection, and treated with multiple different antibiotics but it always seems to come back. I'm sure it sounds completely minor but it is very sore to touch, goes bright red, and the fact it persistently returns makes it hard to forget about.
Then, this may not be related, but the last 3 months or so I have had throat infections every fortnight, lasting a week each time. I have been tested for glandular fever which came back negative, had antibiotics for tonsilitis twice, which I do think it probably was one of the times, but the rest of the time it feels different from tonsilitis. It feels like swallowing broken glass and my glands are huge, but the pain feels more glandular than tonsilly when I swallow. Sorry, hard to explain. Of course, if it had just happened once or twice I'd just take a lemsip and get on with things but as this is the 6th time since July, and coupled with the nose thing, I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?
I'm going to book another doctors appointment, but until now they've always had very little to say about the nose thing, maybe it is completely minor I dont know, and also could be completely unrelated to the throat!
Thanks
