Hair cut like Grayson Perry

I've had my hair cut today. I wanted to try and get rid of some layers that had been put in previously at a different salon as I really couldn't manage them. Turns out she took me at my word and took it up to the shortest layer, leaving me looking like Grayson Perry. I don't know what to do!

Buy yourself a pink bow and some sky blue eyeshadow?

Veterinari · 05/10/2019 18:31

Grin well I don’t recommend a bow!
However a couple of Kirby grips/small clips in the front sides above your ears will soften the bluntness till it grows. Also Hal up/half down. Basically anything that pulls your hair back away from your face will soften the short bluntness

Oh crikey. I can just imagine feeling like that. But I reckon you can pull it back!! (metaphorically and literally actually!!) Put some extra make up on (no pun intended. Not as much as Grayson wears!!) and stick it behind your ears or something. It'll grow on you. (Again m and l!!) You're going to be ok. Xxx

Laughing here Grin

hazeyjane · 05/10/2019 18:32

....sorry not very helpful
Although I now really want to suggest a dirndl skirt.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 05/10/2019 18:33

I bet many funky haircuts can look a bit crap if they're styled wrongly.

Hahaha! Love Grayson Perry! Just rock the look!

AliceLittle · 05/10/2019 18:49

Tuck it behind your ears and rock that cute gamine look

WonkyDonk87 · 05/10/2019 18:59

I had this when I was a teenager! Cried all the way to my friend's house (having obviously told the hairdresser I loved it 🙄). We were very close to hacking it ourselves but thankfully her hairdresser mother rescued me. Shaped it into a graduated bob and added highlights and lowlights. It can be saved OP!

WonkyDonk87 · 05/10/2019 19:02

Or you could just style one side a la Fleabag's sister? 😁

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 05/10/2019 19:15

Sorry I'm laughing here because I am also sporting a terrible hair cut
I travelled to have an amazing cut, my hair was looking great and I came out with a mullet
I'm using bun type pins and pinning it up in a messy way until it grows

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 05/10/2019 19:16

Or could you get layers in the back to make a graduated bob

Itstheprinciple · 05/10/2019 19:23

Thank you! You've made me laugh!

I would go back and ask for it to be cut into a pixie.

Spaghettio · 05/10/2019 19:59

I've done this before. I feel your pain.

What you need is mousse - and go for the messy look. It gives the impression of layers, a clip/grip at the side and a bit of scrunching and you'll be okay.

The benefit of short hair is that you notice how quickly it grows.

rockingthelook · 05/10/2019 21:00

funniest thing I've read today op, bless you, I feel your pain, I remember my Mum taking me for a perm in the 70's, I looked like a cross between my Mum and Eddie Large, I cried so much!

Cinammoncake · 05/10/2019 22:33

How about one of those headbands that are now in fashion? push the fringe back. I wouldn't get more layers, I'd just wait it out and soon you'll be a lot happier with it as it grows down, and at least the layers are gone

wigglybeezer · 05/10/2019 22:42

I had a very short bob with fringe once, the charming boys at school nick-named me "Jerry Helmet". Can't remember what I did to fix it it was 40 years ago (God I feel old writing that!).

Itstheprinciple · 05/10/2019 23:04

Doesn't help when I showed DD that picture, she went 'Hmmmm'.

Even worse, I look like Grayson Perry when he's not wearing his fecking make-up and bows Sad

TheWashingMachine · 06/10/2019 05:34

I have a colleague who has that haircut, she does awesome eye makeup, very strong eyeliner and very stylishly cut clothes, mainly black and honestly she is one of the most elegant people I've ever seen. There isn't a whiff of Grayson about her.
