About to start my first round with DE at 43. Trying to work out the balance between hoping it will work and accepting it might not.

If you went through IVF, how many rounds did you have?

Report your post and ask MNHQ to move this to the Donor Conception / Infertility part of MN. You will get LOADS of help there Smile

First round of ivf on nhs. They struggled to get the embryo in (they didnt scan at the same time.)had 6 embryos only one made it to transfer and that round failed. Second round was private they did more tests and found i had almost no lutinising hormone so i ended up on more drugs and higher amounts than the first time. They used scan to implant embryos and the neck of my cervix was difficult to manouever but they managed . 2 embryos made it but only 1 stuck and shes a 3 yr old dynamo now.

Also if you are using DE don't worry about your age, unless you have additional age related health issues your chance of success is likely very similar to if you were 33

We were super lucky. One fresh round, got 4 embryos. One live birth from that round. First frozen failed, second failed to thaw, final frozen ended in live birth. So 2 children from one fresh round.

2 attempts done privately as NHS had really messed us around. Successful both times despite only retrieving a couple of embryos each time. First attempt at 36, developed Ohss and was extremely ill - fortunately no harm done and ds1 is now 16 and has just done his gcses. Had ds2 at 42, much easier pregnancy and he's 12. As I'd had 3 misscarriages before pregnant with ds2, ivf was actually emotionally much easier to deal with.
