Anyone else job hunting?

Hi I am new and I was suggested this site by another mum as a good sounding boards also for non-parenting relating matters. I am job hunting and I am having interviews and (obvs.) cannot really discuss it at work and my family is getting bored with me talking about it, so I thought I'd post here if anyone else is looking for another job/ being interviewed etc, so we could offer support and suggestions to each other? I hope this is the correct board to post in.

My situation: switching industry so taking a pay cut; had a second-stage interview for a company yesterday morning and two more first interviews next week (Monday and Thursday).

The second-stage interview went well, looks like they were sincerely impressed, and I was told I would have another interview with a company director and if that went well and references were ok I would be offered the job but I haven't heard anything today. I thought I'd leave it today and send a follow up email on Monday.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences.

I am, OP:) I am a part-qualified accountant and looking to get back to work after a break (a year of maternity leave and 5 months of being unemployed). Used to work in central London but now trying to find a local job (London suburbs). It's so hard... Confused
After a few weeks of sending dozens of CV's and not hearing back I finally managed to get two interviews this week.
Received a job offer after the first one but it's a temporary position and 40 mins away, so not ideal. The second one was also successful and I'm having a second interview on Monday! Fingers crossed I get it as it's a permanent position, the pay is better and it's very close to home.
Now trying to relax and enjoy the weekendSmile

Hi @lady3009, thank you for replying and and congratulations for the offer and for your second interview! i hope you get the job, let me know.

I was interviewed on Thursday and the interviewer said he was impressed and believed I was more than capable to do the job and moved me onto an interview with the Operations Director... since then I haven't heard but as the Ops Dir is based on another town I am trying not to get too antsy, however I'll email to follow up on Monday if I have not heard.

Did they give you a provisional job offer pending references for Post A?

Enjoy your weekend!!

No, they didn't even mention references! Smile
I hope you do hear back from the interviewer on Monday Smile

I had an interview today after 4.5 years off as a sahm. I arrived to a complete powercut, they were 20 minutes late starting and I was a jabbering wreck.

I think my presentation went well because they both said they had no questions for me; I had answered every single thing. The Q&a probably was not so good, I felt myself floundering on stupid easy questions that I really should have had a good answer for. (I did, I just fluffed them)

I have been job hunting for a very long time! I work in education and just can't find anything suitable - so very disillusioned with my current job that I need to get out.

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 20:42

@thenewaveragebear1983 - well done, you must have aced the presentation - and do not beat yourself up - everyone does less well in Q&A, it's hard thinking on your feet in a pressurised situation.

@Yellredder, I know what you mean - my background is in the arts/heritage/research = did in the water - so I have been thinking and thinking and finally starting to get results, will take a huge payout but hopefully it will mean losing a battle to win the war, if you forgive the trite metaphor.
