SPOILER ALERT

ET: The bathroom scene, where ET and Elliot are on the floor and Elliot gets taken away, with ET screaming for him to come back 😢😢 And of course when ET is found all grey and dying in the water, then when he temporarily dies and obviously the ending 😭

Forest Gump: When nobody lets young Forest sit down on the bus and then he sees Jenny for the first time 😥 When Jenny dies "Every night we read a book and he's so smart Jenny. You'd be so proud of him" 😭😭😭

Atonement: The ending, when Bryony explains the reality 😢

Theory of Everything: The croquet scene. There's no dialogue, but it's heart breaking. When Stephen has had his operation and can no longer talk. The look they give one another 💔 Also when Jane breaks up with Stephen "I have loved you. I did my best" and he just looks broken and they cry together 😢

The Reader: When Michael sees Hannah in court and realises she's actually illiterate after she refuses to give a sample of her hand writing and then her sentence. When Hannah hears Michael's voice on the recorder and of course the ending 😭😭😭

I have so many more, including Disney and Pixar Blush but I'd be here all day!

Over to you...

Dr Who: the episode where Rose is pulled through the vortex and it closes and she and the Dr (Tennant) are separated forever. They stand with their cheeks and palms on either side of the door..crying...longing....can hardly type it..
😢😢😢😢

Truly madly deeply. Juliet Stevenson's snot-filled sobbing bit sends me over the edge because it's proper ugly crying rather than the usual 'Hollywood sniffle/dabbing corner of eye with a tissue' job.

FraggleRocking · 04/10/2019 16:14

When Simon Donovan (CJ’s SS agent) is killed in The West Wing. Always gets me.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 04/10/2019 16:15

Dumbo's mum in the cage.

JaneJeffer · 04/10/2019 16:15

In Emmerdale when Ashley had dementia and he was dancing in the care home and Laurel joined him and he remembered her for a minute. John Middleton was amazing in the whole dementia storyline.

StarGOLD · 04/10/2019 16:17

Wow...having a little cry reading all of these. How strange a wonderful that people have the same feeling towards a scene as you. I thought no one would put the 'too many' scene from Jude or Hannah filling the vials of morphine whilst he pushes the extra ones that will kill him towards her.... Superb.

bonbonours · 04/10/2019 16:17

And the very end of Blackadder Goes Forth. I watched it with my kids recently and they sat there open mouthed distraught just like I did the first time I watched it. So clever in such a daft comedy series to turn it round like that.

JaneJeffer · 04/10/2019 16:18

When Charlie died in Lost is another one Sad

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/10/2019 16:19

@bonbonours what happens at the end? Haven't seen it for years

StarGOLD · 04/10/2019 16:20

Oh my god...Truly Madly Deeply..:.
I Miss Him, I Miss Him, I Miss Him...😢😢😢

StylishMummy · 04/10/2019 16:20

Up - ugly cry
Schindlers list - the girl in the red coat
The ending of Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
Downton abbey - Sybil's death
Gavin and Stacey, when they can't conceive 'it's ever so sad, isn't it'
Steel magnolias ending
The end of the imitation game ruins me, because it's true. And so fucking awful

Ivydalegirl · 04/10/2019 16:21

The scene in Vikings when Ragnar carries Athelstans body to the top of the mountain to bury him as close to his 'God' as possible . Beautiful scene and very emotional.

ImportantWater · 04/10/2019 16:23

These used to make me cry reliably (not necessarily sad just tear jerking) but I don’t seem to cry at films anymore:
Casablanca where they stand up and sing La Marseillaise
End of Breakfast at Tiffany’s when they hug in the rain
End of Dead Poets Society (O Captain my Captain)

The English Patient is the film I cried at the most, but I have never rewatched it so don’t know if it would still make me cry!

Geekster1963 · 04/10/2019 16:24

Who will love my children. Watched it years ago with my Mum and Sisters. My Mum who never cries, cried.

ClownsandCowboys · 04/10/2019 16:24

Emma Thompson in the bedroom in Love Actually.

Mark Greene dying in ER

The end of A Star in Born.

End of Blackadder where they go over the top.

maldivemoment · 04/10/2019 16:28

Thought of another... the ending of ‘Life is Beautiful’

GlitchStitch · 04/10/2019 16:28

The Last of The Mohicans- the whole final scene with the amazing music score and Alice jumping off the cliff rather than accept her fate.

Shawshank Redemption- when Red jumps bail, gets the bus and reunites on the beach with Andy.

Patch Adams- when all the kids come to the hearing and put their red noses on!

dayslikethese1 · 04/10/2019 16:30

Pretty much everything. I cried re-watching Free Willy the other night Grin Father son moments get me particularly.

bonbonours · 04/10/2019 16:32

@Princesshoneysuckle they all really do go over the top and then it fades to poppies (sob)

Oh yes Emma Thompson smoothing the bedding and putting on a brave face for the kids in Love Actually.

NatashaRomanov · 04/10/2019 16:35

The end of Blackadder Goes Forth.
Had our sixth form English class in stunned silence, and with a few wet eyes!

Armageddon. When Liv Tyler's character is alone infront of the monitors.

And yes to the Queen of Sheba episode of Royale Family.

RoRosmama · 04/10/2019 16:36

Then end scene in the notebook when she finally remembers him "it was us, it was us!" and the bit when they die in bed together (I sob for half hour afterwards!)

Also my favourite film of all time 'the divine secrets of the ya ya sisterhood' just the whole relationship with her mother makes me so sad and I always cry at parts of the film, especially when her mother had a nervous psychotic breakdown and beats her children. Very sad!

sunshineandshowers21 · 04/10/2019 16:36

also shawshank where brooks(? it’s been a while since i’ve watched it) writes the letter describing his life outside prison. it breaks my heart when he says he tries to work faster bagging the shopping but his hands hurts, and when he goes to the park hoping to see his bird 😭 and then he hangs himself because he can’t cope with life on the outside. the first time i watched it i literally sobbed.

InsertFunnyUsername · 04/10/2019 16:36

When Mufusa dies in Lion King Blush

It's the "Dad wake up" that does it for me.

MySonIsAlsoNamedBort · 04/10/2019 16:37

The elephant man when he's talking about how he's tried to be a good person because maybe that would make his mum come back and love him despite his deformities.
Urch. Poor elephant man. I've made myself sad now.

Latenightreader · 04/10/2019 16:38

I loved Life is Beautiful but stopped watching a few minutes before the end because I could guess what was going to happen to the father...

The Body in Buffy. 'Mom? Mom? ...Mommy?'
