Hospital ward etiquette

The way the beds in a bay face each other makes for a lot of eye contact with the person opposite. You may not want to make eye-contact, and neither may she, but it keeps happening. Just resting in neutral looks like staring.

It's weird and disconcerting.

If you are ill enough to be in hospital, you are probably too ill to notice or care!

I am completely antisocial in hospital - keep my curtains drawn most of the day. Hate hate hate enforced socialising.

Not really. In this bay there are women who are alert and aware, as well as women who aren't. I'm not ill, I'm sitting with my dd, so I'm very aware of trying not to appear nosey.

Even worse when you keep making accidental eye-contact with the patient’s partner who is sprawled across the bed
