I'm expecting DC2 and just wondering. My labour with DC1 was about 32 hours, hoping it will be quicker this time...

My second Labour was 29 hours compared to 6 hours with my first .
Both inductions

AnyFucker · 03/10/2019 18:54

Easy peasy
Honestly.

RainWoman19 · 03/10/2019 18:55

Easier and quicker. 1st was 5hours and 2nd was 2hrs 10mins.

A lot quicker 1st baby I was in labour for 12 hours 2nd baby I was in labour for 3 hours. Poor baby was very nearly born on the bathroom floor.

ahsbackagain · 03/10/2019 18:55

A lot quicker but contractions were more painful.

happytoday73 · 03/10/2019 18:56

Much better.. I went down from about the length of your first with an eventual assisted delivery (nearly emergency c section) to less than 6 hours from waters breaking with no contractions through to delivery. It was FAB!

Bumfuzzled · 03/10/2019 18:59

1st was long, painful, stressful - 26/27 hours. Utterly ghastly, it took me 3 years to even think about having another,

2nd I didn’t realise I was in established labour until I was 8cms. Midwife arrived at home and I had him in the next 2 hours. It was almost enjoyable! Almost...

Grimbles · 03/10/2019 18:59

First labour was about 24hrs.

Second was 4hrs.

First time round I was off my tits on morphine so dont remember much about it. Second was more painful but I think that's more to do with not having enough time for pain relief to properly kick in.

Sewingbea · 03/10/2019 19:00

Twenty four hours and every form of pain relief available for first birth ending in assisted delivery. Planned home birth for second child. Three hours and no pain relief needed. It was the most empowering thing I've ever done and if I think about it for too long it still brings a happy tear to my eye.

ConstanzaAndSalieri · 03/10/2019 19:01

Much quicker. Body was much more aware of what it was doing. Somehow hurt more (but manageable) but recovery was much more straightforward.

Mookins14 · 03/10/2019 19:02

Quicker and more painful. But the second was after a sweep and he arrived two weeks early. First was 9 hours, second was 6 hours.

MumOfDiamonds · 03/10/2019 19:06

First labour was 12 hours, spontaneous and had an epidural very early on. Pushing for 2 hours.

Second labour was 4 hours 15 mins, spontaneous again and had no pain relief. Was pushing for 15 mins. I was able to keep mobile during my 2nd labour due to no epidural and i felt it helped.

PurpleWithRed · 03/10/2019 19:09

first - hideous hospital experience. labour 13 hours. second - idyllic home birth with pool. 5 hours.

happytoday73 · 03/10/2019 19:10

Empowering, yep that's the word I was trying to think of sewingbea!

First birth just glad over.. 2nd birth I could have help him above my head lion King style, done a happy dance and shouted 'look what I did!!!' Grin

My husband and I were giggling like overjoyed naughty children when they let us go home!

notangelinajolie · 03/10/2019 19:10

Ist - horrific and gruesome
2nd - easy I almost enjoyed it

OmniversalsTapdancingTadpole · 03/10/2019 19:12

First was long, 46 hours long Shock

Second was 1 hour Grin and he was born in his bag of waters.

ElsieBobo · 03/10/2019 19:14

First was 2h10 and second was 45m. Second baby was 1lb heavier than first so i recall the labour/ pushing bit was harder second time around but the healing process after was much SO much easier second time around.

OmniversalsTapdancingTadpole · 03/10/2019 19:16

Oh and i was very very quiet, concentrating on the job at hand, i did however say 'gosh this stings a tad' as i had a tear.

Asta19 · 03/10/2019 19:18

I was lucky, first was 3.5 hours, second was 1.5 hours. I found recovery from the second a lot easier. After the first I remember feeling so sore and I struggled to walk around for a day or two. With the second I was feeling bouncy and energetic in no time!

theworstwife · 03/10/2019 19:21

Both inductions over dates - 1st 29 hours, second 24 hours. 2nd was a million times better as I knew what I wanted and took control of proceedings. Felt v empowering 💪🏻

Sweetpeach3 · 03/10/2019 19:52

First one was 5 hours and DS was back to back an was brought into the world via forceps. DD fell out at the hospital doors after having contractions 6 mins appart, Warned the hospital an had a bath so they eased off until they got closer together 5mins in the bath an I started to push, luckily it was the waters then baby fell out with the waters as I got to the doors ! Hope number 3 is as simple !!

Soola · 03/10/2019 19:55

Shorter but last few contractions were more painful. Both labours were easy though.

user1483387861 · 03/10/2019 19:57

I went from a 33 hour hospital birth to a 90 minute unexpected home birth!

LemonMousse · 03/10/2019 20:01

It was a doddle compared to number one (which wasn't that bad either to be fair). Number two was very quick once it got going.

Bloodycats · 03/10/2019 20:01

It was a walk in the park compared to the first one.
Honestly though, it was painful what with contractions etc but I was so much more prepared for it. Genuinely enjoyed it, I got a right buzz off it.
