WASTING MY LIFE - any ideas?

I'm increasingly finding myself laying around, napping, and sat on my phone during my free time. I'm so bored and, to be honest, quite lonely.

Does anyone have any suggestions of ways to get my oomph back, or a hobby I can do at home?

My friends are quite limited in what they like to do so I don't see them much, apart from the occasional dinners. I'm fairly newly single (6 months ago) and don't want to fall into a depression. I thought life would be fun and spontaneous as a single person but I'm just bored and a bit sad!

Go for walks
Read
Lots of free courses from the OU and other places. Look at Coursera.

Look on meetup to find meetings near you.

Make new friends to start with! Is there anything you are interested in where you can meet new people? I did sewing classes and got talking to some lovely women. I've got an allotment which is cheap, sociable and very good exercise!

Maybe you could do an evening course that's quite involved.

Or go wild and pack everything up and travel (you can work as you travel to pay for it). You would meet lots of people and it certainly wouldn't be boring!

When I had some free time I volunteered at an animal rescue centre and walked dogs and spent time with the cats as they're often in small cages just wanting some love. This would only work if you're fond of animals but it's very rewarding 🐶🐱.

I do have a son, so my free time isn't regular enough to volunteer. It's mostly when I'm at home and he's sat FaceTiming friends or on his phone/Xbox/doing homework and I'm just home at a loose end.

Have found Coursera so will have a look, thanks for the recommendation.

Genealogy is fairly addictive and you can do it at home!
I try to listen to podcasts / watch documentaries / read books / do online courses with Future Learn to keep my brain going.
