How to make it more special for DD?

I'm taking DD on holiday abroad for her 16th birthday soon and her boyfriend was supposed to be coming too but they've just split up Sad

We're still going without him and I've already bought some decorations to put up on the day, and have got her a nice card & present, but can you think of any other little touches to make the day special and make her less sad for her that the holiday wasn't quite what she was hoping for?

Preferably not too expensive or impossible to hide in a suitcase!

Any chance you could change his place for a friend of hers?

We've tried, it's too short notice and none of her close friends can make it.

Are you staying at a hotel? Could they organise a cake for the room? Or could you plan a nice day out or meal?

We're staying in an apartment and will be going out for a meal, but I might see if I can find a local bakery which could do a cake, good idea!

Things like a tiny box of chocolates (eg hotel chocolate) to put on her pillow after you come back from being out for the day? (Leaving that and a note explaining your request at reception at a suitable discreet moment).

Nip out in the morning to get a bunch of flowers, birthday cake and some breakfast bits.
Nice lunch out with a mocktail or two Smile
Box of Lindt on her pillow, banners and balloons in the room.

Ooh, she'd love that!

I'm starting to feel more excited than disappointed for her now Smile

not a lot of information to go on, are you away in a city ? or is it more a sun type holiday, just wondering if we knew where was nearby could we suggest something special you could arrange to do on the day, maybe something grownup to make her feel 16, definaly has to be something worthy of posting on social media, from my experience of 16 year old girls.

Other ideas is put a little pack together for night before with facemask, nail polish, some body stuff she likes so she wakes up all stunning on her bday. etc But dont it sounds like she should have fun, shes on holiday, shes going to get a nice present, card , decorations, dinner out, chocolate and maybe cake..

It's a sun type holiday, not in a big resort but there's supermarkets, restaurants and cafes nearby.

Like the pamper package idea, she'd love that! Thanks Smile
