I’m bored, what do you do in the evening

I’m bored, I’m home alone, dc in bed. Obviously there are many things I “could” do like ironing , work or going through my wardrobe sorting out summer/winter clothes.

I’ve watched all the most recent Dr Pimple
Popper vids, don’t want to do sit ups and am shit at knitting!

What can I do to alleviate my “boredom” that doesn’t involve mess or going to bed (other option 😳)

Sweet FA if I can wangle it. Rarely achieved however. 2nd choice is snuggling cats.

When you knit what do you make? I’m very unskilled so can’t even do a proper square

You sound like the ideal person to be knitting twiddlemuffs
The need bits sticking out, and it doesn't matter if they aren't quite striaght or the right size. Smile

I knit (currently making baubles for the tree and Santa/Rudolph finger puppets. Last week I made a hat for my dc - a bun/cupcake for dd and a sparkly beanie for ds and before that I made some knitted toys; I'm not up to the standard of making my own clothes etc yet!) or sew (something I've only just started. I made a dress for dd and found it so stressful that I haven't dared tried anything else apart from cushion covers yet!). I sometimes do very simple cross stitch patterns as well.

I set up a still life scene on the dining room table and take a photo of it before editing it. Either that or I edit some photos I took earlier on in the day/week.

Sometimes I colour in.

Most of the time though I just lay on the settee in front of the tv and try not to fall asleep!

Crochet blankets, matched bet, sometimes at the same time 😂

rededucator 😂😂😂
I think we've all had weeks like that!

OP, I taught myself to crochet granny squares (very badly at first). I'm a good knitter but crochet didn't come easily at all! Eventually I made a whole throw. Coordinating and choosing the colours was the best bit.

I knit, crochet, embroider and cross stitch. There are some excellent patterns and kits for sweary or cool cross stitch on etsy, and it's easy to do. I'm currently knitting a big chunky cable knit blanket so I do a few rows of that whenever I'm bored, or a bit of the hellraiser puzzle box that I am cross stitching. I like knitting in really chunky yarn because things knit up quickly and I don't have time to get bored of them (I have several half finished projects from a while ago knocking around that I really should finish). After I finish this I'll start making some Christmas stuff. I taught myself knitting, crochet and embroidery with video tutorials that I found online, started off with granny squares and scarves.

All best done in front of the TV. I've just signed up for shudder so watching many horror films at the moment.

I live alone and can feel pretty bored in the evenings if I have no plans. I tend to just go to bed really early and sleep. I am good at sleeping

minesagin37 · 03/10/2019 02:06

@avokado which level? I've just stepped up to Master. I much prefer playing scrabble against the phone than the family!

avokado · 03/10/2019 11:44

@minesagin37 actually I just play the ripoff version Mr.Word but maybe I should buy the real
Scrabble app. I want to be a master!!

We don't get in until after 6 so it's a scramble of cooking, cleaning, tidying, sorting uniforms for the next day, organise work clothes for next day, laundry, lunches etc.

It's usually after 9 / 9.30pm by the time I sit down. I am usually more than happy to plonk my arse on the sofa and watch crap tv at that stage.

One night a week we're not home till close to 9pm due to dd's sport.

At least 1 other night I might have a work event or we're at the theatre etc so I relish the nights where I can veg out.

Sometimes I use that time to research trips / holidays etc or browse online shopping for clothes or message friends etc
