First time I've ever hosted a full class party for my son's 6th birthday at 1pm on Oct 12th. Went to pay the balance at the leisure centre today where he's having it. Someone had tippexed out our booking and written over it!

Told by venue "we can't contact them and they've paid in full but you can move yours to 11am"

I've paid deposits on food and cake to be picked up on morning of the 12th so have just said fine move it. Got to write out all the invites again and send them out again.

I'm convinced this is going to be a nightmare and it'll all get mixed up or most of the people won't be able to come now.

Gutted for DS if this does happen and pissed off with the leisure centre for double booking. WWYD? Am I overreacting?

Did they offer an explanation?! That's awful.

Drogonssmile · 02/10/2019 16:05

Nope not that I know of. I wasn't there, DH went on the way back from picking DS from school. I've not seen him yet so not got the whole story as he just called me quickly
to ask what to do. They've got to offer some sort of discount surely?!

We had this once with a laser quest at soft play, worked out fine.
You've got 10 days notice. Maybe not all will be able to make it, but most will.
I would definitely be wanting to speak to the manager for an explanation (is the other booking for a friend of a member of staff?), and potentially a discount (especially if you get a number of drop outs).

Karwomannghia · 02/10/2019 16:42

Surely there’s an easier way to contact all parents without writing out invitations?

Quartz2208 · 02/10/2019 16:43

yes talk to Leisure centre that is awful

Drogonssmile · 02/10/2019 18:51

So we've contacted those we have numbers for via what's app and re-done invites for the rest. The leisure centre have given us a 30% discount as they admitted it was their fault. Apparently a member of staff was "confused by the booking" Hmm and they thought the appropriate action to that was to delete our booking from the diary! Grrr.

Hopefully all sorted now. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was bad form. My husband was so calm I thought I was being dramatic!
