Help me with changing nurseries?

I recently moved my DS from one nursery to another and I wish I hadn’t. Now I want to move him back. My DD is due to start there in the new year and the thought of that makes me want to cry.

New nursery has 4 week cancellation period which is straightforward enough but I’m unsure on the 30 hour funding.

If I give notice now and start him at the old nursery again in 4 weeks time, does he lose the 30 hour funding entirely until January?

Can the 30 hour funding be redirected from one setting to another? The old nursery is under a different council, does that complicate things?

I’m not fully sure but I would imagine it would keep rolling as you can spread between 2 settings so it’s only like swapping it back to 1 if that makes sense. Does his old nursery have space for him to start in 4 weeks?

I would contact the old nursery to be sure there's space. If there is they may be able to tell you what needs to happen re funding.

Ring the new nursery and ask them.

Maybe contact the nursery you’re going to be sending him too to ask x

In our LA you would lose it until January.

Yes the new nursery has a space for him.

He currently uses all 30 hours but will only need 15 at the new place.

I moved my DS as he had a nasty injury at his previous nursery, they tried to be difficult at first as they said they had the funding for the term and it couldn’t be transferred, after some strongly worded emails the owners agreed to pay the new nursery the balance of the funding for the rest of the term, it was at end of April so only a couple of weeks into the term.
So no, I don’t think the council will transfer the funding but the nursery themselves may agree to.

Thank you definitely.

I seem to remember somewhere that the nursery can’t keep funding if the child doesn’t attend so it seems silly for them to refuse the new setting to use it.
