What on Earth happened to me last night?

Hoping for anyone who can please relate with any similar experiences. Apologies it is a bit long...

Middle of the night, I woke up to use the toilet, as I sat on it I experienced a ‘head rush’ and remembered thinking to myself ‘how strange, you don’t normally experience head rushes when you sit down—’

Next thing I knew, everything had gone black, I felt trapped and felt knocks to my head and shoulder. Then I snapped straight out of it, as though nothing had happened, but very sore on one side of my head, one side of my forehead and my right shoulder.

I don’t recall how the knocks happened, it was as though I had lost consciousness (even though I was aware of the knocks happening) I was out of control to stop them.

I’ve woken up this morning with a nasty bruise on my shoulder, a bit of a lump on my head and sore forehead.

The bathroom has a sharp corner counter, so I can only think I somehow knocked into it...but 3 separate points on my body?! Without knowing how it happened. And with force (the bruising) I didn’t fall down on the floor, as I ‘came to’ my senses still sat on the toilet seat.

I wasn’t intoxicated either if that helps?! It’s never happened to me before.

Do you have a cat?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 02/10/2019 09:41

How close is the sink/bath/counter to the toilet? Could you have fallen forward and hit yourself? It’s possible you fell and managed to get yourself back on the loo before you fully regained consciousness.

Seeline · 02/10/2019 09:43

Sounds like you fainted on the loo. Perhaps got out of bed too quickly whilst not fully awake? What could have been in reach to bash whilst slumped on the loo - basin, wall, cupboard etc?

Oh how weird! Could you have fallen against the counter (or something else like the wall or the bath) and didn't fall on the floor because hitting the object stopped you? Then kind of righted yourself back onto the toilet seat while still unaware?

Anyway if it was me I'd go the GP, admittedly I'm a worry wart, but they might want to investigate why you blacked out, and a bang to the head should maybe be checked too, especially as you weren't fully conscious and it's not clear how hard it was.

How old are you? I'm perimenopausal and dizziness and weird fogginess can come with that (as well as needing a wee in the night!).

Hope you're feeling better now Brew

Faint or fit I think - GP is your way forward.

Bluntness100 · 02/10/2019 09:46

Could you have had a fit?

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 02/10/2019 09:48

I would wonder about a seizure. Make an appointment with your gp, whatever it was needs investigation.

Blahblahblahnanana · 02/10/2019 09:50

Sounds like you fainted on the toilet. Go to the GP and her your blood pressure and your iron level checked.

Could it have been micturition syncope. Still worth getting it checked out .

MrsMozartMkII · 02/10/2019 09:50

Definitely a GP appointment needed lass.

SchrodingersMeowth · 02/10/2019 09:50

I have POTS and sometimes get faint because of blood pressure drops.

I’d think seizure or low blood pressure.

SweetAsSpice · 02/10/2019 09:56

Thank you all, yes I will book with GP now. Counter is very close to toilet (tiny en-suite) I’m early 30’s. No cat! yet

Very odd!
