Is the iPhone 11 pro worth it for the camera?

Looking at upgrading my phone, buying phone outright as on a sim only monthly. Was looking at the iPhone 8, but I also want to get back into photography so was think f about buying a camera. But wondering if to start I just add on the money and get the iPhone 11 pro? Easier to take photos with for fun than having to take another camera out? Or just stick with the (much) cheaper iPhone 8 and get a camera?

I've just upgraded from the iPhone 8 to the 11 Pro. Camera is a massive step up, not sure how much I'll be using the wide angle but portrait mode and night mode are brilliant.

Whether to get it instead of a camera? I think it depends on what you mean by getting back into photography. The 11 Pro takes great photos, but as a hobby it doesn't replace getting creative with the manual settings on an SLR.

Thanks, it was just looking into photography for fun. I’m good at composition just been using a older iPhone at the mo so was wondering about camera versus the pro

If you've been using an older iPhone up to now, I'd probably say another iPhone is all you need. The best camera is the one you have with you, and all that! I would say there's a material enough difference in the 11 Pro camera to make it worth the extra if you can afford it.

I have an 11, the “normal” one not the Pro or Max and I have found the camera to be exceptional.

Also an amateur photographer however and would not swap my DSLR for the world. I shot in RAW and then can edit!

Hmm, maybe I need to cost up how much I want to spend on s DSLR and see the price difference between say an iPhone 8 and the 11 pro and a proper camera

Google Pixel 3 has a fantastic camera. I take a LOT of photos - mostly nature/animal based. I was an iPhone stalwart for years but in massively impress with the Pixel 3.

Though if you want to stay with Apple I've heard good things about the iPhone 11 camera.

I think as I go between iPad and phone a lot they’ve got me so I’ll need to stay with Apple. Clever though doing that!
