Bronski Beat - It Ain't Necessarily So
Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough
Blondie - The Tide Is High
Irene Cara - Fame
The Gap Band - Oops Upside Your Head

I was fifty earlier this year and 80's music is my favourite

Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark
Abba - Dancing Queen
Time Warp (just for a laugh)
Blondie - The Time is High
George Michael - I'm Your Man
Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup
Prince - 1999
Human League - Electric Dreams
Whitney Houston - Dance With Somebody
Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go
Pointer Sisters - I'm So Excited

50th birthday party?

It'd be remiss of you not to play 'Hawaii Five-0' at some point!

Superstition by Stevie Wonder

If you're going for a cheesy 80s vibe then:

Respectable - Mel & Kim
Come On Eileen
Don't you want me baby - Human League
anything by Erasure
" Pet Shop Boys
" Jimmy Somerville
" Culture Club

If you're just looking for some good music then I'd be more inclined to ask all the guests to choose a song they'd like to dance to. That way when their song comes on they'll feel obliged to dance! Plus you might get a bit more variety that way instead of all the 80s music!

No, not definitely not looking for cheese! I may ask guests, but was hoping to see if I could manage to compile a list myself. But then again your idea FeralHogs of them not being able to refuse to dance to their own request is quite compelling!
