Car breakdown

I will sound very helpless in this OP.
My car has been threatening to give up for ages and broke down to n the way to work today. RAC towed it to a garage but I doubt it will ever go again. How do I go about scrapping it?

Ask the garage, they may do it for you. That would certainly be the easiest route.Alternatively you employ a tow truck to take it to the scrap yard, or get a scrap yard to collect it. Depends what is available locally.

Thanks. I’m just so stressed about the whole thing. I teach, so can’t do anything during the day, the garage is a good distance from both home and work, wondering about all the stuff I have in the car and just generally unable to think about what to do first...

1st arrange your stuff out the car.
2nd check it's not an easy fix, even if it puts off needing a new car for a month, it gives you time to look.
If it's not an easy fix, ask your garage if they'll buy it, sometimes they'll be happy to, so they can fix it up at cost in their own time and sell for a profit. They might buy it just to make the money on scrap.
If not, they can guide you in getting it scrapped.

Our garage scrapped it for us, can't remember if we had to pay or not though
