Yay. We have a prize pillock on our hands.

Ninkaninus · 01/10/2019 11:47

I’ve answered this seriously, mainly for the benefit of those of us reading the thread.

I don’t for a minute think the OP is being anything but wilfully goady.

Soola · 01/10/2019 11:47

Are these glorious ladies over the hill?

I think not.

Mrsjayy · 01/10/2019 11:49

Oh Asta dear sending thoughts and prayers Grin

YesQueen · 01/10/2019 11:49

When you're dead. HTH

Soola · 01/10/2019 11:50

@tabulahrasa

I’m the opposite! 53 and my hair has become thick and lustrous, skin is better and I have much more confidence in myself.

By the way did you use to post on the eBay boards years ago and have a Siamese cat/cats?

Housewife2010 · 01/10/2019 11:52

What a nasty thread.

Soola · 01/10/2019 11:53

I can’t stand Helen Mirren for her personality but there’s no denying she looks great and has a great zest for life.

Always 10 years older than you actually are. I remember going to an exercise class at 17 there was a woman there who was 34 just had second child. I actually remember thinking why is she even bothering she’s so old there’s no point Grin

PapaStinky · 01/10/2019 11:56

Jeez didn't mean to cause offence. Genuine question as I was looking at birthday cakes for DH as his 50th is looming. I spotted a Costco one that has an over the hill design and wondered if that was appropriate. I Googled it actually and it says over 40 is considered over the hill. I was thinking that sounded too young so maybe 50 hence asking the question. Never expected a shit storm 🙄

Horrible thread.

I can't say I have ever thought about when to apply a blanket insult to a whole group of very different people, and don't think I've ever described anyone as "over the hill" in my life, far less considered that there was some recognised, official age for it.

People are all different, OP.

BarbaraofSeville · 01/10/2019 12:03

Costco cake is horrible anyway, whatever picture it has on it.

Age is just a number, it's all about attitude. Plenty of people are out having fun and being active well beyond 50, which is great if they are able to. I definitely wouldn't consider 50 or any age to be 'over the hill'.

Mrsjayy · 01/10/2019 12:03

Not 1 person is offended by your thread so no need to jeez

ParanoidGynodroid · 01/10/2019 12:03

I Googled it actually and it says over 40 is considered over the hill Confused

By whom?

PapaStinky · 01/10/2019 12:06

There are a few sites about it if anyone checks on Google though I know you cant believe everything you read there! I was genuinely wondering, being goady is not in my nature and my post wasn't intended to be.

I honestly don't think it applies at any age. I know a 90 year old woman who's brilliant. Always knocking back the G and Ts, very energetic and full of life. There's no way I'd consider her to be "over the hill".

Heyboyo · 01/10/2019 12:10

This is Mumsnet where a 90 yr old is classed as young.

Bluntness100 · 01/10/2019 12:10

Over the hill is really just a jokey phrase op ,

thedevilinablackdress · 01/10/2019 12:11

I Googled it actually and it says over 40 is considered over the hill

Who says?

Soola · 01/10/2019 12:11

Someone tell the ‘Stones that they’re over the hill!

Living proof that age is no barrier for anything... ❤️

tabulahrasa · 01/10/2019 12:12

“I’m the opposite! 53 and my hair has become thick and lustrous, skin is better and I have much more confidence in myself.”

40 was fine, I was good with turning 40... then suddenly towards the end of year, wham, old, rofl

“By the way did you use to post on the eBay boards years ago and have a Siamese cat/cats?”

Yep Smile

SallyWD · 01/10/2019 12:14

@Heyboyo No. I certainly don't think 90 years old is young! But I DO think a 90 year old can be full of fun and energy and not what I would call "over the hill".

readingismycardio · 01/10/2019 12:14

OP, have you seen J-Lo, Jennifer Anniston, Julianne Moore, Gwen Stefani, Matthew Mcconaughey, Cate Blanchett recently? All turn 50 this year.

Plus Cindy Crafword who's already over 50! My mother is 52 and she rocks! She is a size 8, long and thick hair and dresses beautifully. She also goes to the gym 4 times a week and definitely not over the hill! How rude!

PapaStinky · 01/10/2019 12:14

Thanks Bluntness I get it now it's meant as a jokey phrase think I was taking it too literally! I shan't be getting that cake for my DH then Smile
