Some of you may remember me as being married to an abusive drunk. In April I started online divorce proceedings, and last month it came through. We have no property or children together, and it was really easy. Just 4 months.

We were married for just 4 years. He is devastated I have gone through with it, but he had to agree to sign. He still loves me but still won't admit his drinking drove me to divorce him.

I feel sad but know that it was 100% for the best. I can't let my DC accept such bad behaviour from their SF.

Well, that's me. 53 and once widowed, once divorced.

Anyone in my previous position - life is too short and too precious to spend it with a drunk.

Well done, you did the right thing for you and your family. I hope he manages to get dry.

I am glad you managed to cut free from him , it is now time to start a new life for you and your DC.

My friend called round his weekend and we had a heart to heart. I knew she and her dh hadn’t been having a great time of it recently, but I didn’t realise how bad things were. Turns out he’s a abusive alcoholic.

I’ll be showing her your thread.

Well done you for having the courage to leave.
