Put 2kg piece of brisket in slow cooker at 10.30 this morning.

It’s now 5.15, we want to eat it at 8 ish. It’s cooking but I’m worried it won’t be tender enough. Shall I stick it in the oven??

It should be fine, brisket is amazing when it's slow cooked.

So another 3 hours will be enough??

It should be.

Is it on high or low?

If worried and it's not already, I would turn it to high.

I normally aim to have brisket in for about 5 hours. On high, as instructed.

My slow cooker is over a quarter of a century old, though.... I don't know whether they're different nowadays.

It’s on auto

I do 8 hours on low. Should be fine.

Put it in high. Have you flattened / unrolled it if it was tied?

Don't panic! I've noticed whenever I do big lumps of meat in my slow cooker they always feel really solid part way through, but a couple of hours later they fall apart marvellously. Keep the liquid level up & beware of nuking it on high out of fear - stick with low & slow if you have time.
