Sorry for TMI - needing a wee continually!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to reduce my alcohol consumption quite significantly. (Please don't turn this into yet another boring thread bashing those who like a drink). I wasn't a massive drinker before, and definitely not an alcoholic.

I've had no withdrawal effects, apart from noticing that I feel a bit better. That is, apart from one thing: ever since pegging it back, I've been so thirsty! And yet also needing a wee continually (even when I haven't had loads of water).

Diabetes definitely not a problem and I don't have a UTI (I've done a home test kit to check both three or four times now). I actually feel pretty good in myself. It's just a bit embarrassing to be up and down to the loo all the time.

Is this normal? When will it settle down? Are there any other unexpected effects?

What are you drinking instead?

Alcohol is an irritant to the bladder and you might have just got used to it but the withdrawal is restoring normal sensation but you have to go through the sensitive bit again.

In the meantime, stay away from citrus fruits and caffeine

It could just be your body flushing all the toxins out a bit like a detox, alcohol is known for fluid retention which is ultimately what causes ascites in the end but although you'd be nowhere near this there could possibly be some.
I would imagine in a couple of weeks when your liver has settled down you will be back to a more comfortable routine.
Well done for making some health changes. Just watch out for foamy urine as this could indicate a problem with kidneys.
Don't be out of driving water because of the bathroom trips you need to stay as hydrated as possible.

Meant to say don't be put off
drinking water!
Not sure what my phone was up to there!

I have a cup of coffee first thing, but then it's pretty much water all day. (Ah, the rock and roll lifestyle!!) I've always drunk loads of water, though - this isn't new.

I swear to God I'm peeing out more than I'm putting in!! Grin I am trying really hard to stay hydrated.
