Positive stories of root canal please!

I am having a root canal tomorrow- it's a tooth that was heavily filled a month or so ago, but has not settled and continues to be painful.
I'm really hoping this will be an end to the issue 🙏🏻.

I've made the mistake of googling and finding countless people who have had worse pain and infection after a RCT ☹️.

Can anyone reassure me that this treatment was fine, and sorted them right out?!

(My dentist is lovely, expensive and hopefully good!!)

Thank you!

My daughter, who had 4 children including a baby, said it was worth it to get a lovely lie down with nobody asking her for anything.

I had a fiddly 4 root one done in 2 stages. It was finished on Friday. It was mainly boring. I just turned the sound on my headphones up during the drilling.
My dentist said to take ibuprofen 3 times a day for 3 days afterwards regardless of how it felt, which really helped.

Update:

Just thought I'd pop back, in case anyone is looking for similar advice in the future: I was absolutely terrified at the start of the procedure, but it was a total breeze. I didn't experience any pain during whatsoever, apart from a tiny sore scratch from one of the injections. The procedure is being done in two appointments, so today the dentist opened up the tooth and cleaned out the canals. She then put in some antiseptic paste, before putting in a temporary filling.

I'll go back for the permanent filling in two weeks, assuming everything has settled.

This evening I am sore, but it's manageable at the moment.

Mine was fine. Took a few appointments, but just boring, not painful during or after, other than an achey jaw from keeping my gob open for so long! No problems whatsoever in the 5 years or so since.

Glad it wasn't too bad Smile
