Arts and crafts help!

Please don't be mean, I'm a single parent, was never around kids until I had my own.

Christmas coming, figured handmade Christmas cards so DD can have an activity to do and get some cards done for family.

She is 2.5 yo and I'm a novice with arts and crafts. What glue do I use to stick let's say wooden buttons to the card? And other fluffy type objects. What's a safe glue? Is it all safe these days? Grin I feel pritt stick would be weak, I recall "PVA" being in schools. Any ideas? Any tips?

Thank you!

For wooden buttons you need glue dots. You can put the dots on the buttons and your DD can put them on the card. Same for fluffy things like pom poms.

yes you can get pva (aka wood glue)
in the range they do a pva glue pen which may be less messy than a bottle or this

the sticky dots are good as well

Sticky dots definitely. I get mine at Poundland.

Glue dots or even little foam pads for embellishments

It's a lovely idea Smile

I looked on Pinterest and did some green toddler handprints like a tree then let DS go mad with glitter and stick on bits.

Thank you everyone! I'll go to wilkos as I saw glue dots are cheap there when I googled what it was. Never ever have I seen such a thing! Definitely cleaner than pva (which I didn't even know is wood glue lol)

The handprint tree sounds really cool too, wouldn't have thought of that. Was going to go with here's some glue and go mad with sticking all this random crap I got off amazon on this paper Grin but maybe I'll try this tree thing!

I found this on amazon and am in love so looking forward to watching her stick these down! It also gives us something fun to do now it's getting rainy and cold.

Thank you again!! Flowers

Are you near The Range? They have loads of lovely craft things for adults and children.

SamBeckett · 30/09/2019 16:51

As well as making her own cards how about making your own crackers ? You can buy kits that include the cracker , snap, get and joke and you add the toy. They work out much cheaper and better than shop bought ones . I used mini packets of sweets and miniature bottles of booze last year.

Alexel · 30/09/2019 20:06

Never heard of the range. I'm an amazon shopper Grin I can look online though.
I prefer online shopping but I will go to wilkos and have a look as it's a bus from me.

Mini bottles of booze for crackers, awesome for the adults Grin I'd give it a try for sure, it can become a tradition for us to make things.

I see I can venture further than just amazon, need to get out of my comfort zone Grin
