Drinking now makes me ill

I've always been a regular, although not massively heavy drinker. In the past year, I have been much more adversely affected by alcohol, starting with extreme sleepiness and now at the point of extreme sickness the day after a few drinks. I had 2 g&ts last night, after 2 weeks of abstinence and it's wiped the whole day out for me! For context, I'm 31, no sudden or recent weight loss or anything else that might have affected it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, in retrospect it was linked to migraine. I wasn't really having "hangovers" as such but a migraine with vomiting etc. The alcohol had triggered or tipped me over into undiagnosed migraine.

Had to give alcohol up. If you do want to drink then plain vodka is more likely to be your friend and the darker the brew the enemy. Migraine abortives such as migraleve helped when it happened.

Alternatively, you could be run down, stress of work etc and need to abstain for a bit

Yes, I drink very little now, as it triggers an allergic type reaction - sneezing, nose blocks, red face, itchy inner ears and roof of mouth. Not worth it.

I'm the same. Funny as I used to drink every weekend when I was younger. I drink probably 2-3 times a year now but I can't even manage a couple of drinks without having a dodgy stomach and feeling absolutely rough for days. It's just not worth it Sad

This happened to me when I was younger..

You'll be glad to hear it reversed now I'm older. But there were a fair few years decades of abstinence in between Grin
