Hi all we are in the starting process of a home exchange to stoford in yeovil from Paignton I have 3 children with 1 in the way we was really excited to move but my partner has been going threw a lot of reviews about yeovil online and is now having second thought about moving there as no 1 seems to have a good word to say about the place is there anyone from there who can give a honest opinion on what it is like there for a young family please I can't wait to leave Paignton as it is quite a scummy place to live but we are looking for our forever home and dont want to end up regretting it thank you in advance

I was under impressed with the town centre when we visited a few years back.
Not what I would call a pretty town.
I’d rather live near Glastonbury
Does it have to be Yeovil
There’s a celeb often seen in Yeovil...I forget which one.
I’ll rake around my brain cells

Yeovil is also pretty scummy. Would you consider Taunton?

Ah, I see you are doing an exchange
Is this a housing association house so you are pretty much stuck to the that area?
Lovely part of the country though so a nice base.

It's known locally as Yeo-vile...... Its reputation isn't great unfortunately. However... Fairly well placed to get to other towns & parts of the West County. Town Centre is looking, as do many others, a bit sad due to closures of shops. But the old BHS has recently been replaced by a Dunelm, there are a couple of good out of town retail parks. The hospital seems to have improved hugely in recent months. I don't live there, so no experience of what it's like day to day.

Yeovil as a town isn’t very nice, but Stoford isn’t Yeovil. It’s a village about 5 minutes away. There are lots of nice villages in that part of Dorset/Somerset. I probably wouldn’t choose Stoford as my first choice unless you need really quick access to town or to the station for commuting. But there is nothing wrong the wider area in general. I just wouldn’t ever choose to live in Yeovil. Why not visit and see what you think?
