Have my insides gone wonky (warning: TMI)

I had a baby 15 months ago. My initial fears that I was torn asunder forever more proved overblown, and all went back to feeling 'normal' downstairs after a few months, and once I'd stopped breastfeeding. BUT ever since I've had my periods back I find that tampons get soaked with blood on one side but the other remains entirely clean - it is very annoying as it means they leak very quickly because the full capacity of the tampon doesn't get used. It also makes me wonder whether my insides are now on the wonk?! Do other people have this, or am I alone in my off-kilter uterus/vagina/whatever is causing this?!

Mine often only seem to be used on one side too. I can’t remember what they were like before I had children, it was so long ago!

Jesse70 · 29/09/2019 14:51

That sounds very odd go and get a check up and have someone take a look or wait until your next smear
Use a menstral cup they hold more than a tampon anyway
Hopefully someone can give u better advice

I had the same thing and stopped using them, I also found them uncomfortable which I never did before childbirth. I'm sure my insides are forever changed, things have shifted!

picklemepopcorn · 29/09/2019 15:02

Yep, me too. Changing to a moon cup helped, as I don't get the discomfort/inconvenience of half and half.

Menopause helped even more. Smile

Pringlesfortea · 29/09/2019 15:15

Your cervix might just be slightly at an angle, nothing is ever the same after childbirth ..there might be more room in there now so it moves about a bit ,I wouldn’t worry x

JustOneLastThing · 29/09/2019 16:07

I have gone back to pads, tampons just aren't comfortable any more Hmm

welshweasel · 29/09/2019 16:09

Cervix likely to be slightly prolapsed so sat lower than pre baby. When you put the tampon in it therefore sits to the side of the cervix hence why only one side soaks up blood. Very common. Get a menstrual cup!

TheQueef · 29/09/2019 16:11

Ooo I used to get this but only with Tampax, lillets all got used up so must have fit better.
(This was in the olden days when only those brands were available)

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 29/09/2019 16:18

I too suffered from wonk, last smear was slightly more difficult also due to winky issues.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 29/09/2019 16:19

wonky that should read Grin

raspberryk · 29/09/2019 16:22

Tampons have always come out curly for me or used on one side and leak, I have a really low and tilted cervix. I do much better with a cup but I do have to completely cut the stem off.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 29/09/2019 16:50

Ok, so not just me! I had a smear recently and the nurse didn't note any lopsidedness, though perhaps she was just being diplomatic...

I have this too, I've never given birth though but have had MCs. I never thought anything of it, and just assumed I'd been placing them slightly wonky!

Pinkstars2501 · 29/09/2019 17:42

No kids here so maybe no help. But like a previous poster, I had this with Tampax. Swapped to Lilets and the whole tampon gets used.

I prefer them as well because they expand in width rather than length, the more blood they soak up.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 29/09/2019 20:54

Alas, it was a lilet that I had just soaked through when I started this thread in indignation. I used to have a menstrual cup and had to give up on it because I kept getting thrush, sadly

TwattingDog · 29/09/2019 20:58

I get this with many brands of tampon, anf I've not had kids.

I have fewer issues with Tampax. Not Pearl though - those are awful.

smileylottie87 · 29/09/2019 20:58

Again no kids here, but have often found one side for me too. Doesn't matter which brand I use

Augend · 29/09/2019 21:06

And here was me assuming I was the only woman in the world who just soaked the one side of the tampon.

IndianaMoleWoman · 29/09/2019 21:22

I don’t have this tampon issue but during early labour a doctor very helpfully “pulled my cervix round” without warning whilst examining me. I screamed and she was very apologetic and seemed to think she was doing me a massive favour. Up until that point I had no idea my cervix was in the “wrong” place, or that that was even possible!

Maybe labour has left your cervix a bit lopsided?

Fluffsmum · 29/09/2019 22:33

Mine was like this last time I used a tampon, which was many moons ago, prior to kids.

I did have a backward cervix (around 5-10% are backward apparently).
