Can anyone point me in the right direction?

We are having a mass clear out of stuff, I have put aside a few broken phones and laptops.

Broken, as in, won't turn on or load or the screen is so broken and the phone is so old, there is no point.

I have googled but there doesn't seem a way to recycle these, there are places I can send working ones, but not broken.

Also because I can't turn some of them on, I am nervous about what information is on them and just because I can't turn them on, doesn't mean someone can't so am unsure how to check that.

Anyone help?

No idea sorry, but watching with interest as I also have old laptops I need to get rid of.

With laptops you can usually remove the hard disk if you have a screwdriver. Then look up your nearest tip/rubbish dump add they often have a section for electronics, which do get sent for recycling

If any are Apple items you can take them there and they will clean and recycle

We are 2 train changes away from the nearest Apple Store, if there are no other options I will give that a go thank you

We tried there and they refused everything, including the working IPod, because it wouldn't hold charge. TBF to them it doesnt
