Spa recomendations

Hi all,

It's my friends 30th coming up, and we've talked about a spa break.

Needs are:
-Near enough to a city to go out drinking one night without worrying about driving or an expensive taxi ride (friend fancies Newcastle)

• Somewhere we can get treatments, and a sauna/steam room (preferably a deal with a treatment involved in the stay?)
• Preferably be weekend, or friday night

Budget is maybe £200 if possible? Can stretch a bit if we need to.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I think Seaham Hall is supposed to be one of the best spa hotels in the north east but I don't know how close it is to Newcastle.

It might be something where all the things you've asked for aren't really available in the area so you'd need to compromise depending on whether it's the city night out or the spa you're interested in.

Can't help with the city night out, but the best spas in Northern England are probably the Woodland near Burnley or Rudding Park near Harrogate. Both have restaurants and accommodation on site so if a brilliant spa plus meal, drinks and accommodation is what you want, either would be great, but I don't know about any half decent spa hotel close to Newcastle or any other city - maybe the Titanic in Liverpool.
