I love them. I despise plug ins and manufactured scents for the house so I blend my own but I fancy trying a few others.

My fav are lemongrass and geranium.

Also grapefruit and rose geranium.

Hopeful of discovering new blends. I have patchouli and sandalwood but not really used them yet.!

I love Geranium too. I also like Sweet Orange oil, I find that uplifting. Lavender is also a favourite of mine.

MonnaLisa · 28/09/2019 20:24

Ylang Ylang is very nice, I also really like Orange, Grapefruit, Rosemary and Frankincense.

WelshMoth · 28/09/2019 20:28

Do you two blend them together though?

Lemon and bergamot is really nice. It’s very uplifting and energising.

Inebriati · 28/09/2019 20:39

My favourite blends are;
Orange and cedar.
Orange, patchouli and sandalwood.
Patchouli, black pepper and lime.
Frankincense and myrrh.

I use them st Christmas on bits of gauze tucked in radiator
Cinnamon ,clove ,sweet orange ,pine
One drop on top of another
Disks right through the layers of gauze and then I tuck one on each radiator
Live in a bungalow... so it all smells Christmassy

I love lavender and tea tree in my bath, widely midwife recommended but sooo good.

I also put lime, basil and mandarin essential oils in my diffuser reeds.

You can't beat real fragrance and aroma.

Elieza · 28/09/2019 21:17

I burn tea lights in the living room and once the metal containers are empty and cold i use them to drop oils (in a carrier oil) and put them on the back of the radiator (mine have lumpy bits sticking out at the back conveniently) to make everywhere nice as the heat sends the scent round the room -again for clarity I do not light these!!
Lavender in the bedroom for sleep, with chamomile if I have any (out at the mo) various others depending what mood I’m in elsewhere. I could do with some inspiration too for blends! I’m currently into lemongrass.

WelshMoth · 28/09/2019 22:40

@Elieza oooh and me! I'm loving lemongrass too. I occasionally put some geranium with it to smooth it out a bit, but the zingy-ness really uplifts me.

Have you discovered May Chang yet? It's lovely too.

I'll give lavender and chamomile a go.

I like lavender with geranium and bergamot.

Do you put just oil in your empty cases? Or a little water as well?

I put a few drops of a carrier oil in the containers with a few drops of the essential oils like I would to apply to my skin but not as much carrier oil as the container is small, and some water but not much. It evaporates quickly if the heatings on full bung so that’s not ideal as I want it to last!

Lavender and roman chamomile are both relaxing so that’s why I use them in the bedroom. A few drops on the pillow doesn’t go amiss either. I haven’t tried the may Chang but will do!

MonnaLisa · 29/09/2019 07:14

Op there is a book called the fragrant pharmacy that has got lots of nixes and recipes with oil.

Bluesheep8 · 29/09/2019 07:27

Patchouli is my absolute favourite scent. Also love lavender. Clary sage is very calming when blended with one of those too.

Inebriati · 29/09/2019 15:24

I made some soap with may chang and it smells amazing, its also anti fungal.
