If it is it's been around for over 20 years as my best friend's mum used to sell them! I don't think they are anywhere near the usual MLM levels of aggressiveness, even if their structure has similarities.

Yes it is. I know someone who does it and my Facebook feed is constantly full of her "join my team" shit.

Yeah pretty much. Currently they are pushing the advent book a day thing.

I do like Usbourne books. I also know I can get them a lot cheaper at the supermarket, or infact just the charity shop.

DappledThings · 27/09/2019 20:39

It is, but not as aggressive as some.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 27/09/2019 20:41

It's not the worst but yes definitely and MLM and it seems the pressure to recruit is growing all the time.

I’ve seen various consultants push the book a day advent thing on Facebook in different parenting groups I’m in. I obviously can’t ask them but the prices seem to be ridiculously cheap e.g. £1 per book so I am curious to know if there is any profit in that at all or if they’re just flogging excess stock they have...

Clangus00 · 27/09/2019 20:51

A wee bit.
Also the market is pretty saturated so it’s hard to make money with it, so they push harder.

PlugUgly1980 · 27/09/2019 20:53

YES

Userzzzzz · 27/09/2019 22:19

Usborne seems more benign than other mlms but there is saturation. There are a huge amount of mums doing it near me and I always wonder how much they actually make. The books are lovely but I tend to just buy online.
