Does this need an X-ray?

DH has sprained his ankle. Has gone black and is swollen.

See pics. Any chance it could be broken?

Am hoping pics are attached 😬

Can’t see pics, but if it’s tender to touch and he’s unable to weightbear then yes, he should have an x-ray.

He can stand on it a little as he needs to get around but it is very painful

Pics now visible. That does look like he at least needs it seen. I did similar to my ankle about 10 years ago, they x-rayed it. No break but nasty soft tissue damage - I tore the ligaments, & bruised in a very similar pattern.
