Catchment doctors

I’ve been registered with my doctors since I a child. I’ve always found them to be very good and supportive. I’ve moved to a town about half and hour away now. I would ideally like to stay with the doctors I am with is this possible? The doctors local to me are struggling due to the increase in housing as there was meant to be a doctor built on the development I live on however there hasn’t been.

Depends on the doctors.

My local doctors reduced their catchment a few years ago due to new housing developments increasing demand. So generally they won’t take people who have another GP closer.

But if your existing GP isn’t too busy they might be okay with you staying.

They might keep you as an existing patient.
Locally to me, doctors don’t want any patients too far away in case the need home visits.

Thank you from what I’ve read they can keep you as a patient as long as long as you agree not to have home visits which I’m happy to do so hopefully I will be allowed to remain registered with them
