Hi there, we're travelling to Glasgow with our 6 & 8 year olds next week for an Irish dancing championships.
My little girl is dancing in the royal concert hall & we'd like some nice restaurant recommendations for nearby & also advice on what to do in Glasgow eg science museum, theatre etc.... Thanks in advance 😊

Hi,

There is literally so much choice in terms of what/ where to eat in Glasgow. The Royal Concert Hall is fairly central so you have plenty of options. If you take a walk down Buchanan St or Sauchiehall St you will be able to find plenty places you could go into without bookings, ranging from "posh" places to Nandos. I recommend just googling "Restaurants near Sauchiehall St/ Buchanan St" and it will give you way more suggestions that MN could.

In terms of things to do:
*Science Centre is great but you will need to get a bus/taxi from Glasgow Centre to get there
*Kelvingrove Museum is also good, and you can get there via subway (Kelvinhall stop) which is handy for the RCH
*Glasgow Museum of Modern Art is also handy for RCH
*Botanic Gardens is a lovely walk if weather nice and if you buy some nuts from a shop on route you can feed the squirrels! You can get the subway (Hillhead stop)
*I also recommend a jaunt on the subway to Hillhead stop if you fancy visiting Ashton Lane for dinner/drinks. There are lots of nice little shops and pubs along Byres Road and its a nice stroll towards the Gardens. Oran Mor pub is beautiful
*You have the Kings Theatre, Theatre Royal, Glasgow Film Theatre and the Pavilion Theatre all close by, - check out the online websites to see what's being shown. Bound to find something!

I could go on for days with Glasgow recommendations really, I live in a fabulous city and am very lucky to have so much on my doorstep.

Scotland Street School Museum is really interactive. My DC enjoyed trying on school uniforms from different eras, writing on wax tablets and seeing how the classrooms have changed.

The Science Centre is a fantastic (and educational) full day out – including hundreds of interactive exhibits, a state-of-the-art Planetarium, IMAX cinema and live shows the kids will love.

The Glasgow Botanic Gardens are a lovely sanctuary in such a busy corner of the city. The playground is good and there is so much space for the kids to run around.

Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre is an amazing place to visit.

The Scottish Football Museum is also great fun, even if you don't particularly like football! On the stadium tour, you get to visit the underground roadway, team changing rooms, strike a ball in the Hampden Hotshots gallery and have the speed of your shot electronically measured. Walk down the tunnel, and then climb the stairs to the cup presentation area.

Definitely go to D'Arcys to eat, and Black Vanilla Cafe if you want a snack or a light bite.
