Advice on not smart TV!

Hi
I don't have a smart TV. I currently watch Netflix on my desktop computer but that's not very comfy.

I was wondering, is it worth picking up a cheap tablet to connect to the TV? I don't use any of the tablets so I don't know how good they are.

Am I missing any obvious options? Would a cheap second hand smartphone do? But probably that's more expensive than buying a tablet anyway?

Get a Roku stick. It attaches to the TV and you can watch things like YouTube and catch up services though it without the need of a tablet and another device to caste to the TV.

Or an Apple TV box.

I have an Amazon firestick which has Netflix app and lots of other apps. But I usually us my BT Freeview box which has the Netflix app and others. Firestick just plug in and it's ready to use. Freeview box not wireless so I had to connect it to router.
