Bercow's Vocabulary

There's been a lot of talk about John Bercow on here. Some positive some negative. But I think we can all agree his way with words and his vocabulary are something to behold! The way he just comes out with words like they are part of anyone's every day chat. I've learned two new words recently. Can anyone add any more?

Perspicacity: the quality of having a ready insight into things

Mellifluous: a sound pleasingly smooth and musical to hear

There's a Sweary Bercow Twitter account. Very funny.

It is funny but a bit repetitive. Whoever is doing it needs a copy of the profanisaurus.

PickAChew · 25/09/2019 23:33

I used melifluous on DH, last week, and he looked quite baffled!

The fact that he really riles the leavers just adds a whole other level with him.

Alas my vocab is bad, though I did know fiat was a word as I play those word game apps and some of the words are just great. Never heard of them, but great nonetheless.

An extensive vocabulary is a wonderful thing. Bercow also has a fantastic turn of phrase and the gift of always seeming slightly amused by life.

Love him. Love to see real intelligence from someone famous, it's so hugely lacking in most people in the public eye.

And if Labour had any sense they would capitalise on people fancying Keir Starmer - I'm sure that's in small part why Tony Blair was so popular at first.

My favourite Bercow exchange is when Chris Bryant wished him a happy 'kiss a ginger' day.

Excellent use of the word prating, which is due a comeback.

I fell for my now DH, when I heard him dictating a very "traditional" letter about a complicated legal matter. All that flowery language...sigh.
JB seems like he would be mischievous is RL.
