Washing muddy PE Kit

I mean really muddy. Glastonbury muddy.

Do you let it dry and bash the worst off them wash it?

Do you soak it first then bung in the machine?

My machine has a soaking facility which I’ve never used. Do you think that’s better than soaking in a bucket?

I’d rather bin the PE Kit than ruin the washing machine but would rather save both if possible.

This is what my life has become...

I'd soak the worst of it off in a bucket with an extra rinse or two and pour outside so you don't block your sink - if it is that muddy. Definitely not in washing machine.

Yes I would let it dry first and brush/bash the worst of the mud off.
I wouldn't want too much gritty stuff going in my washing machine and potentially knackering it.

I would rinse as much mud off as possible using the outdoor tap if you have one or use a bucket of water, then when as much of the caked on mud as possible has gone use the machine and if you have a prewash function that might help.

sand clogs up the pipes, so yes either soak and rinse the worst out before washing or let it dry and crumble off the solid bits.

Many thanks!

I’ll let it dry if possible, bash, soak, throw used water down external drain, soak again then washing machine.

Thank goodness I no longer live in a tower block!

Soak in cold water first.

PhonicTheHedgehog · 25/09/2019 13:18

After the drying and bashing or before?

I suggest not overfilling the washing machine either!! Just put the muddy PE kit in it or it won't come clean.
