I thought I saw something this morning, but I don’t really believe in ‘all that’!

This morning, as I drove down the same back road I always do, I saw someone coming out onto the road on a bike. Except the person and the bike were coming out of a hedge, and then they vanished. The whole image seemed brown, but I didn’t see a face, as the sight made me jump because I wasn’t expecting it and it appeared out of nowhere. It was raining heavily and the bike was exiting the hedge on the opposite side of a narrow lane.

What do you make of that? I don’t know what to think, as I saw it quite clearly, but if anyone else told me that, I’d think they’d made it up...

I think there’s a lot of the unexplained around. There has to be, we can’t know everything.

whatateam · 24/09/2019 18:53

Check old maps, see if there used to be a track crossing the road where you saw the bike

Shockers · 24/09/2019 19:18

Googling old maps now. It’s quite close to an old estate with a big house, so should be quite easy to find- I hope.

I used to see things like this on average once a year and I had an undiagnosed neurological condition. Not to say that you have that too, but I think a lot of these things people see are hallucinations. Sorry OP, maybe you saw a reflection of something else in the window?

Elieza · 24/09/2019 19:30

I’d be looking at old maps too for an explanation. And thinking about the style of bike and the mans clothes etc to see if there was a clue about the year.
My friends mum experienced something similar. She was out walking in a new area shed moved to and there was a cottage. She walked past and looked back when she neared the top of the lane and it was a ruin but half a minute before as she passed it, it was in reasonable nick.
Bizarre. A glitch in the matrix?

Shockers · 24/09/2019 19:39

I wondered about the rain on the window @IamPickleRick, but the image I saw made me jump, so I think it was pretty clear.

It wasn’t a modern looking bike, and I honestly can’t say whether the person was male or female, but I think the crossbar was dropped. I had the feeling it was male, but can’t be certain... if indeed I did see it Confused.

There’s a very good map I’ve just found, but I don’t know whether the lane that’s there now has always been there, so I can’t place exactly where it is.

That’s fascinating @Elieza!

I often see parked cars at the side of me pull out, except it isn’t that, it’s the sun reflecting across them and making me think it’s an indicator or something. I also jump, I don’t think that’s the litmus test of whether something is real or not. I’m going with trick of the light.

Shockers · 24/09/2019 20:06

Could be. It was a narrow lane with high hedges and it was raining heavily. It did seem very clear though.

I see stuff all the time at work from the corner of my eye (nursing home) People sat in armchairs and when you look straight on no ones there Or the room is empty.

Shockers · 24/09/2019 22:13

What do you think it is @Troels? Do you think you’re actually seeing them, or is your mind expecting to see someone there in a chair, so it momentarily tricks you?

I think we do see traces of people/the past/who the heck knows. I'm not in the least bit freaked out or afraid by it. I'm usually busy heading off to get meds done, singing a song in my head. Not wondering if I'm going to see something that isn't there.

Shockers · 25/09/2019 14:12

Oh, I meant because people who are alive might be sitting in the chairs! Grin

Sometimes there is someone sitting there Grin
Latest was Sunday, walked past a bedroom, door was open, I saw someone sitting in the armchair. Doubled back (three steps) no one there, room empty. I doubled back because the resident was supposed to be either in bed, or the lounge. Never left in chair alone. It made me think someone had left him there by mistake.
