Diazepam and Cocodamol Help

Greyhound22 · 24/09/2019 16:01

Strange one and I honestly can't find it by Googling.

I took a 5mg Diazepam at 8am this morning as I had an MRI. Previously had to be bought out of one so GP prescribed it - it worked!

However - I need to take cocodamol for my pain relief and I'm beginning to feel awful - I know you shouldn't mix the two - I'm probably being a bit cautious but does anyone know when I'm safe to restart it?

Thanks

The diazepam should be coming out of your system and 5mg is a relatively small dosage.

I personally would take the cocodamol now. They're two different types of pills, it's not like mixing pain killers.

There should be a drug interaction site online if in doubt.

I’ve taken the two together without a huge problem , felt sleepy but not unmanageably so .

Thanks both. I think it will be ok I'm just a bit of a worrier.

I was prescribed the two for years. As long as you're not drowsy and driving you'll be ok.

In theory it take something like 100 hours to be fully out your system but if it was me I’d still take the codeine tonight since you only took the one dose.

I've taken both together and been fine. As others have said, though, don't drive.

Thanks everyone I took some and I'm ok!

It will be fine for you to take the Cocodamol now. Hope all is well.

It should be fine. My husband takes co-codamol for post-seizure headaches, and sometimes needs Clobazam for muscle pain; Clobazam is related to diazepam, so you should be OK.
