What are these marks on my (line dried) towels from?

Took my washing in yesterday and this is the third one with the same orangey stain on. I’ve tried stain remover and washing on a high temp but they won’t budge. Any ideas what’s causing them and how i can get them out? I’m presuming it’s something outside rather than from my machine but I’m not 100%sure. TIA

Have you run a hot wash clean through your washing machine? Might just need a clean.

Unknownanon yes I ran an empty wash on 90 with some white vinegar in the dispenser for good luck earlier this evening. Am hoping it sorts it. Most of my tops are white and I can’t afford to replace them if it starts staining those 🤞🏻.

I was going to say bees as well.

You need some rust and iron mould remover. You can buy online or in stain remover sections of supermarkets. It works, I use it on antique linens.

Did it get darked on?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/09/2019 23:15

We get this from time to time, I've always assumed insect droppings or tree sap. The only time I was able to get rid of it was with bleach, but that was a white shirt.

My washing has been known to get darked on Hemlock. Maybe they’re bat poo stains. I didn’t know there was a rust and iron mould remover Fettled. Thanks for that. I’ll try it.

Fettled out of interest, would you mind giving us a brand name please? I'd like to buy some of that.

Solitarycaddis · 25/09/2019 12:48

I'd like to buy some of that on-line, I should have said.
