Petty annoyances thread

I have one day off this week, from persistent run of late night shifts. At 8.30 a bunch of (unexpected) builders turn up to bang, clatter and yell conversations next door. I know it's a working day and 8.30 isn't early, but MY DAY OFF IS RUINED! When I have builders in, they seem to work for twenty minutes then have a four hour tea break. This lot are workaholics! Plus they've got a drill now...

What petty thing is annoying you today?

There's a bristle from DH's shaving brush stuck on my expensive soap Angry

Aprinceinapaupersgrave · 24/09/2019 09:44

We live in a terraced house with no access to the back garden apart from through the house. DH has started cycling to work which means he is carrying his bike through the house twice a day. It's raining. The floor is covered in wet mucky footprints and the dining table has been moved over to allow him room so now the room looks badly set up.

ByeGermsByeWorries · 24/09/2019 09:45

very petty but I have to drive my nice new car with an ugly scratch on it all week because my neighbour's daughter scraped it with her moon bus and can't pay for the repairs until payday. Blush

The number of pathetic, giggling, girlish “ooooh I’m so scared of spiders!” threads on here is irritating me today

SquirrelsInJune · 24/09/2019 09:52

People walking down the street with those huge golf umbrellas.

Not their fault that they want to stay dry in this downpour but it's a pain when you can't manoeuvre round them.

WaynettaSlobOnTheSchoolRun · 24/09/2019 09:54

I forgot to bring the rice to go with my lunch so now I have to choose between going out in the pouring rain to Asda or having a dull rice free lunch.

Windydaysuponus · 24/09/2019 10:00

Realising I am skint when actually managed to have time to do my hair half decent today and can't go for a posh coffee somewhere...

Soola · 24/09/2019 10:02

I’ve frogged over 30 rows as I changed my mind about a pattern.

Zaphodsotherhead · 24/09/2019 10:07

I am hugely encouraged that it isn't just me.

It's pouring with rain now. What builders work outside in the pouring rain? Not so much as a tea break! Trust my NDNs to get builders with a work ethic. On my DAY OFF.

I washed my hair before the school run Angry

Soola · 24/09/2019 10:13

@ByeGermsByeWorries what is a moon bus? Is your neighbour part of the space programme?

BillywigSting · 24/09/2019 10:15

I need to go and buy bread and milk and bleach before I go to work and I don't want to. I want to go to sleep. I've had a bastard of a week and I'm tired and grumpy and it's not over yet.

Also it's absolutely torrential out there and I don't drive so I am going to get drenched (which is the main reason why I don't want to go out).

Also have no spare money until Friday but have stuff I'd like to buy.

On the plus side Friday is pay day, my day off and my birthday so I'm quite looking forward to it!

ByeGermsByeWorries · 24/09/2019 10:18

@Soola she would probably be less of a liability if she was Grin alas the moon bus is nothing more than a people carrier that she struggles to manoeuvre on occasion Sad

Soola · 24/09/2019 10:38

@ByeGermsByeWorries I am disappointed! I wanted it to be this...!

I'm off sick.... I'm never sick.... my neighbours are having a kitchen fitted... so not only noisy but jell too.... 😷😭😥😠

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 24/09/2019 11:26

I'm pissed off with the agency offering me work without checking the diary, which would tell them I'm fully booked. Even worse is having to ring the client and make sure they haven't been making empty promises. Again.

Sparklingbrook · 24/09/2019 11:31

My cat stopped eating for two days, booked a vets appointment for 9am today. She wolfed down two pouches of Felix before we went. Hmm

It's raining and I need to go out for bread. Sad

FIFA20 for PS4 is due to arrive today and DS2 keeps texting me asking if it's arrived.Hmm

There's a squirrel hnging off my fat ball feeder in the garden.

Redshoesandtheblues · 24/09/2019 11:54

I've realised that I didn't tip the 2 men delivery team who carted a heavy desk upstairs. I'm so embarrassed! Blush

I had it in my pocket but got distracted by cat just as I was signing the form. And before I could reach into my pocket, the man had already left the house and was in the truck.

I'm annoyed at myself. Angry

I’d never tip delivery men! I don’t think they expect it?!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/09/2019 12:30

I'm annoyed at the Council thinking I can get two kids to two schools at the same time opposite sides of town. And thinking my appeal to get the eldest into the youngest school is now going to fa as the council has made her a 'reasonable' offer. And that youngest will have to move schools next summer again so she can join eldest at the Junior school.
And the Junior school uniform is ridiculous. Blazers and ties. Even the skirts are an awkward colour.

Redshoesandtheblues · 24/09/2019 13:14

'@ShirleyPhallus'
Probably not, but it was damn heavy and I think they deserved at least something for their efforts.

Ohmygod123 · 24/09/2019 13:34

My Car wouldn't start this morning so I couldn't take my DS to preschool. we've been at home all morning with my newborn and I just wanted a couple hours today to sort the house out.....

Zaphodsotherhead · 24/09/2019 19:24

Happy birthday for Friday BillywigSting!

Builders have gone now, the rain has almost stopped. Shame I have to get up early for work tomorrow...
