Would appreciate MNs opinions on baby boy muslim names please. We have narrowed it down to three. One I really like, one DH does.

Zain
Harris
Hussain

TIA

I love Faris, which is almost Har(r)is!

My friend has a Zain. I would only caution that he gets a bit of stick because of Zayn Malik (named before One Direction had ever met). But of course it also means it’s a familiar name for many people now.

@x2boys

I think the problem is that some patients see a foreign name and think the Doctor might not have a good command of the english language - which has happened sometimes.

What about Zakir?

I know a lovely Asghar. Like Hussain and Hassan and also Qasim.

Sneezewitch · 23/09/2019 21:11

Gonna chuck Imran into the mix (my fave!)

GeoffreyAndBungle · 23/09/2019 21:15

I like Zayn best of your list

Argeles · 23/09/2019 21:15

Hussain
Haris
Zain

I also love Faris.

whitesockss · 23/09/2019 21:21

Oh I love Qasim too!

Fwiw @Jesaminecollins I know non Muslims named Harris and Zane.

I work in the NHS too and there are plenty of HCPs with Muslim names. Surely we should be encouraging diversity and success in minority cultures here in the UK rather than suggesting people try to 'fit in' with your marginalizing views?

Faris reminds me of Faris Badwin from The Horrors
Which isn't a bad thing...
I like Zain out of your choices

StayInYourLaneBoy · 23/09/2019 21:27

*Faris Badwan
