Coat for cycling

Does anyone have any recommendations of a lightweight coat suitable for cycling throughout the winter that will be suitable for our inevitable heavy rain?? Preferably amazon as that is nice and easy and should arrive tomorrow! I have looked but don't know where to start.

For waterproof, I like my Gore Bike Wear one, it keeps me dry in pretty much all but the heaviest downpours, although it's not very breathable. Altura Night Vision are also pretty good, and a bit less expensive. For cold, showery, but not torrential days I prefer a soft shell jacket as they're warm and comfy and not as sweaty - Mountain Warehouse have decent ones around the £30 mark.

Protected Species jackets are light and waterproof.

I bought mine from Mountain Warehouse. It was reduced from £79 to £17! Probably reduced because it’s a reflective neon pink. I has zips in the arm pits to cool you down.

Soola Thanks for Protected Species recommendation - l used to have a cycling mac from a small company called 'Water off a duck's back' which has ceased operation, so need a replacement.

Which of the PS styles do you think works best for cycling? I am a slow moving mature cyclist, not a lyra-clad fanatic, so was thinking of the Commuter or the Parka [I already have standard waterproof trousers] but am worried that the length of the Commuter might mean it gets caught on the saddle when I get going at traffic lights..
Any advice welcomed.

My only complaint with Protected species is that the commenter, parka and Mac don’t have two way zips.

I’m wearing the commuter at the moment and it is stretchy enough and not too long that you could cycle in it but depending on your shape it might have to be pulled up.

I haven’t bought their shorter jackets but they might be more suitable.

Thanks! I'm going to order and see how it goes.
