We are booked to go to Tenerife next month
We normally use Thomas Cook in October
For some strange reason we are going with tui / Thomson

I’ve got a nighle that sometimes tui use Thomas Cook planes, I may be wrong
Tried to ring tui
Both numbers go dead and we only got the email a short while ago

Holidays 0203 636 1931
Flights 0203 451 2688

Anyone else tried to ring them

Your confirmation details will give you your flight information!

michelledavison575 · 23/09/2019 16:26

Message on Tui website says anything on Thomas Cook airlines upto end of Oct will be cancelled and refunded, from 1st Nov they are looking for alternatives. Hope this helps

Whattheduck · 23/09/2019 16:55

We are going to Turkey next month with tui and it tells you on your booking which airline luckily ours is tui
My brother and friends are currently stuck at Palma Airport they were due to fly back this morning with Thomas Cook they were given an alternative flight but when they got to the gate were turned away and told their boarding passes weren’t valid they had 10 minutes to get them sorted which was impossible and they missed their flight.Last I heard they were told they would have to pay for new flights to a different airport

RingtheBells · 23/09/2019 17:35

We flew with EasyJet on our TUI holiday to Iceland, I think they use other airlines because some of their planes are the ones that were grounded.

MsJRMEsq · 23/09/2019 17:38

Lots of places are having high call volumes because of the TC collapse - various banks have warnings on their websites about it.

Phill2cool · 23/09/2019 18:45

Tui website is back to normal, you can check your booking and see what's happening, some of their holidays do use Thomas cook flights but there is information on the website telling you what you need to know

travellinglighter · 23/09/2019 19:45

Just had a conversation with TUI. I’m supposed to be flying thomasCook but they have cancelled the flight and told us to pick an equivalent holiday or we can have a full refund.

AmIChangingagain · 23/09/2019 19:53

I've had no email and have just read this thread and discovered my holiday is cancelled Sad

Thenumba1nanny · 23/09/2019 21:36

Yes they do use Thomas Cook, unfortunately if you're flight is with them then you will find it is cancelled if traveling within the next month.

Cataline · 23/09/2019 21:50

We're flying to Mexico for Christmas and it was supposed to be Thomas Cook flights even though our package is booked through Kuoni.

Called at 9am on the dot today then spent much time on the phone at various points throughout the day with a truly brilliant kuoni rep and we're now on alternative flights with only minor impacts to the holiday dates.

Feeling quite fortunate despite the inconvenience today and just keep thinking of the thousands of people who are heading into Christmas unexpectedly jobless. Puts it into perspective a bit.

juneybean · 23/09/2019 21:53

Sadly we were supposed to be flying out on Thursday but believe this to be cancelled going off their website statement. So have booked elsewhere for October with jet2. Poor credit card has taken a hammering Shock

AmIChangingagain · 23/09/2019 22:21

And have spent the last 2 hours trying to book something else, with prices going up

I'm truly sorry for the people that have lost their jobs, as I am for anyone who has but I didn't book with Thomas cook.

Dowser · 24/09/2019 00:15

Gosh this is how busy I’ve been since mum original post
Yes , checked booking definitely tui

Not breathing any sighs of relief till I’m on that plane
Just in case

I was in Florida about 11 years ago this month when travel city collapsed
Knew nothing about it
My daughter rang me up and asked if I’d heard the news... we’d been there two days and no we hadn't . wonder if September is a bad time for the travel industry
Monarch came and collected us which I was rather disappointed about as I was staying my own house and was happy for an extra week.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/09/2019 04:52

Yes September is a bad time for the travel industry as it is when they actually pay a lot of the hotels used over the main summer period.

They've sat on people's money for months and then it leaves a hole,in this case far too big, when the bills are due.

TC struggled like the high Street in general is struggling, all those shops, when so many people shop online now whether to book a package or shop online plus currency fluctuations, Brexit uncertainty, etc etc.

TheFairyCaravan · 24/09/2019 10:22

We're in Menorca with Tui atm. The rep told us not to worry about anything and we will be flying home on Friday. We only spoke to her because I've got pre-booked seats that can't be changed for medical reasons.

When we flew out over a week ago there was loads of empty seats on the plane so hopefully they're filling up the seats with the Thomas Cook passengers.

AmIChangingagain · 24/09/2019 12:21

I'm glad you're getting home ok

I was so close to the edge that my holiday in two weeks was the only thing keeping me going.

Now'. I have no idea when I'll be getting my money back, and I can't afford to rebook the same holiday, as the prices have more than doubled and there is such limited availability

I make no apology for being absolutely gutted. And out of pocket, unless I can sell on my hotel and parking package

Not to mention the 6 hours Ive spent trying to salvage something.

Then go on Facebook to see Tui getting all these pats on the back for helping the Thomas Cook customers.

justasking111 · 24/09/2019 12:47

Two years ago this month I was on a last minute Monarch short break. Flew out and discovered on landing Monarch was in trouble spoilt the break the hotel wanted us out. Watched the news all day Sunday, Early hours of Monday morning heard the worst.

Now I am suspicious why the Sunday meetings with both Monarch and Thomas Cook. Why keep taking bookings. Why let people fly out on a Sunday.

When we got to an airport not the one we had been due to fly from. We found foreign office staff had been flown in on the Friday to smooth our exit. So the government knew something.

Seems to me that ~September is the month that they have to pay the hotels so the receivers deem that a good time to pull the plug. Those poor hoteliers.

AnyFucker · 24/09/2019 12:58

Where in Menorca are you @TheFairyCaravan ?

TheFairyCaravan · 24/09/2019 13:06

We're in Cala'n Blanes @AnyFucker

AnyFucker · 24/09/2019 13:11

We are in Cala Galdana. Glorious today, isn't it ?

TheFairyCaravan · 24/09/2019 14:28

Yes, the weather has been beautiful. We can't believe how lucky we've been.

AnyFucker · 24/09/2019 15:54

Same

MsJRMEsq · 28/09/2019 17:46

Hi I'm in a similar boat. Next Friday we are going on a TUI holiday but our flights are with Thomas Cook.

If you're in a similar boat and you're expecting to fly then your problems are bigger than you realise....
